A new article published in Nature Magazine shows the parent-led climate movement facilitates inclusion and community-building through its focus on care and caring relationships. “...the parent-led movement holds promise to inspire a more inclusive approach to climate action, one that not only addresses the immediate aspects of climate change for those who are living today, but also promotes the need to safeguard and act upon the preservation of a sustainable and caring future”.* We know that our love for future generations is shown by research to be “the most universal message”** when it comes to motivating people to support climate action. We were pleased to see recognition of the important bridging role Parents For Future is playing in the climate movement. The researcher acknowledges that “the participation of Parents for Future to the global climate strikes of 2019 marked a pivotal moment…..and brought an intergenerational perspective to the movement”. We are in very good company, with organisations such as Our Kids' Climate, Moms Clean Air Force, and Mothers Out Front also cited in the article. While the article is biased towards organisations in the Global North, we know well that the parent voice on climate is worldwide. There are many Parents For Future groups and other parent-led climate work all over the world. This article bolsters what we at PFF already know; the parent voice is needed more than ever in the climate space. We’ll be continuing our work to help more and more parents build confidence to talk about it and effect change. *https://lnkd.in/eBkaEBQQ **https://lnkd.in/e234sz8X.
