💥 Most *underrated factor* in media relations? Great timing. Public relations is both art & science. But sometimes it’s just being at the *right place at the right time*. That’s why you can’t treat PR like a light switch. You can’t. It’s not instant-on, like when you suddenly have an announcement to make. PR is cumulative. And media relations is the *aggregate* of your smart outreach efforts. Want traction with earned media? You’ve either gotta be always on. Or you’re way off ✌️ This is the way ✊ #publicrelations #mediarelations #pragency
Most underrated factor is Life is timing. There’s all the difference between the success of a startup who happened to launch with perfect timing wrt demand (only visible in retrospect) and the same startup who launched too early or too late.
The word I've been using is "cadence"--you can't just show up occasionally (read: infrequently), you've gotta remind people of your value (and providing value in your outreach). It works--if you do it.
Absolutely. Great post.
Marketing (and PR) are ongoing processes. You have to be persistent and persuasive. It helps to take an integrated approach.
So true
PMO: Preparedness meets opportunity!
Brilliant as ever! 👏🏻
Hello, Parry. I have just started following your content and I am loving what you post. Recently I handled the media relations for a public relations campaign as a part of my final project. I did pitch to media houses about the campaign and the story, but they did not get back, despite follow ups. When you say PR is cumulative and is the aggregate of smart outreach efforts, do you mean to say that there must be constant follow-ups with media houses or is it something like starting with a tease, then releasing the main picture of the campaign and then follow up for updates?
Steady drum beat—a reliable rhythm but not noisy.
