I could either continue down the path I knew well or step out of my comfort zone and pursue something bigger. I chose the latter. Instead of following the traditional HR path, I took a leap and enrolled in the 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 at the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode. And that one decision completely reshaped how I viewed my role, not just in HR but as a leader. Here’s what I learned along the way—take these with you: 🔑 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 In today’s world, it’s no longer enough to be an expert in your own field. To make a real impact, you need to understand how organizations operate—across functions. I'm often invited to mentor early career high potentials due to all that I achieved before my 30th birthday. These are the 2 most important pieces of advice I offer them: 1. Spend time every single day clarifying your sense of purpose, and questioning it. Did I live through this purpose yesterday? Does my schedule today align with what I believe to be most important? Is my time allocation a reflection of who I want to be? Does this still apply or has this evolved? Identify trends and intervene immediately when necessary. 2. Be methodical about your goals and intentions. As you spend more and more time reflecting, things will emerge that you have to address. Each year I evaluate my performance for the previous year and observe gaps in my productivity and alignment. Where did I fall short? What got in my way and why did I let it? Is there a priority that is underrepresented in my scheduling and practices? You'll see in this video how meticulous I am about my goals, my habits, and my intentions. This board is hanging on the wall across from my desk in my office so I have to walk by it multiple times a day, and I can look at it from the seat I spend countless hours in each year. Much of this is similar to how high performing businesses operate. The future executives of our businesses need to first be the executives of their own lives. This is one of the many practices I implemented early in my career to facilitate my advancement. What an eloquent way to describe who you should look to surround yourself with and how they can propel you to growth both personally and professionally.

Learning to look backward is one way to reposition for the future. Reviewing the year so far left me with mixed feelings. I realised that there have been many more wins than I had thought, much more than the obvious economic challenges and a lot more than my memory can track, a couple of tractions in business, more depth, more reach, huge business impact, growth in and with my team, a number of platforms for influence and a whole lot of blessed intangibles and I am extremely grateful 🙏. One of my goals this year was to build on visibility especially on LinkedIn, alas, the year rolled by with many events, projects and opportunities facilitated that were not leveraged for positioning. As a consultant who helps brands and businesses to build and resolve where it hurts most in people-process-strategy, I have also learnt to identify where I need help and to know when and how to ask for help. Registering for Haoma Worgwu on LinkedIn visibility challenge is a daring move at this time of the year being the busiest of season for my industry and my team while also in the middle of facilitating Emerging Leaders coaching program for my middle managers community and the HR Bootcamp by my team I-SENSEVILLE CONSULT. This isn't a nice to do at this time, It's a need to do ahead of the bigger goals and impact projected for 2025.
