Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation’s observance of #OlderAmericansMonth (OAM). The 2024 theme is Powered by Connection, which recognizes the profound impact that meaningful relationships and social connections have on our health and well-being. We will explore the vital role that connectedness plays in supporting independence and aging in place by combatting isolation, loneliness, and other issues. Pate Rehab has many different treatment and therapy options in a variety of settings. Learn more about how we can help https://nuvi.me/36jdny

Today I’m attending the Medway & Swale Social Regeneration Conference. It’s well known that this area has some of the highest levels of poverty and deprivation in England. How, with limited to no additional funding, do we find ways to improve health inequalities? A key theme has been start the education and supportive measures at a much earlier stage than we do currently. Children and young people need to hear less of the ‘doomcasting’ and more positivity, which leads to improved mental and physical health outcomes. #SocialRegeneration #ArtOfThePossible

Research shows that racism can cause trauma, anxiety and depression, and it can also stop people from getting help when they need it. Barriers like stigma and a lack of diversity in therapeutic settings can prevent people from racialised communities from seeking support when needed. In our report, we look at the barriers in more detail, and how health and care services across the country can overcome these barriers caused by racism and by doing so, better meet the needs of racialised communities. 👇 https://lnkd.in/d-KJ5idv #Bradford #Craven #MentalHealthServices #CulturallyCompetent

It's Loneliness Awareness Week and this year is all about random acts of connection. Loneliness and isolation are not just personal issues, they’re societal ones and hugely linked to how we live. In the UK, loneliness has been dubbed a “silent pandemic” with millions feeling disconnected from their communities. But many don't realise there are now alternative options such as co-housing and co-living. You're own private home and garden in an intentional community designed for connection. We're on a mission to create A Fairer Society. Let's create it together 🤝 Learn more ⤵️ https://lnkd.in/empUr_5z #RandomActsOfConnection #AFairerSociety#EndLoneliness #CohousingUK #EndIsolation #CohousingSolutions #CommunityConnection
