Here are some of the statistics on employability in India: - In the India Skills Report of 2023, it was found that 50.3% of young people were employable, as opposed to 46.2% in the previous year. - The employable women workforce increased to 52.8%, higher than the 47.2% employability rate of men. - 89% of graduates were actively seeking internship opportunities. - Candidates from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Delhi had the highest employability. - Mumbai, Lucknow and Mangalore were the cities with the most employable talent. - B.Tech & MBA were found to be the most employable talent from amongst various domains. - Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi/NCR were the most preferred cities for work by graduates. - The demand for skilled labor is being driven by the BFSI, pharmaceutical, e-commerce and IT/ITES sectors. - Freshmen hiring in these fields are projected to increase by 20% in 2024 compared to 2023. 𝐇𝐚𝐬 𝐂𝐎𝐕𝐈𝐃-𝟏𝟗 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚? 🤔⁣ ⁣ This is the question I set out to answer in my fourth project during my internship at CognoRise InfoTech.⁣ ⁣ 🦠 COVID-19 started affecting the world in the last quarter of 2019, and we can observe a slight dip in the average number of employees during this period.⁣ ⁣ To provide additional insights, I collected supplementary data on the number of COVID-19 cases in 2020, which you can find in the link in the comments.⁣ ⁣ 📉 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭:⁣ ⁣ A significant drop in employment levels was observed, reaching its peak in April, followed by a slight recovery starting in May.⁣ ⁣ Haryana saw the highest unemployment rate after COVID, rising to the top after being second pre-pandemic.⁣ ⁣ Jharkhand jumped to the second-highest unemployment rate post-COVID, after being in the sixth position pre-pandemic.⁣ ⁣ 👥 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞-𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬:⁣ ⁣ Uttar Pradesh, which had the largest workforce before COVID, saw a drop from 28.66 million to 27 million.⁣ ⁣ Maharashtra, previously second, saw its workforce decline from 21 million to 18 million.⁣ ⁣ 📊 𝐈𝐧 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞, Tripura and Meghalaya followed closely.⁣ ⁣ 🔍 This project dives deep into the shifts in the Indian labor market due to the pandemic, offering valuable insights into regional differences in unemployment and workforce numbers.⁣ You can find my projects during the internship in this repo https://lnkd.in/d9DUaxvY ⁣ #COVID19 #WorkforceAnalysis #DataAnalytics #CognoRiseInfoTech #Internship #India #EmploymentTrends #LaborMarket #PandemicImpact #BusinessIntelligence #DataDriven
