With recent PFAS regulation, the global demand for PFAS testing market is expected to grow from $240M in 2023 to $540M in 2028… but how will the market handle this demand? I have spoken with many industry leaders in recent months that are setting up PFAS initiatives and increasing capacity through acquisition. My initial thoughts – are some companies being reactive in their approach and will they be able to keep up with client’s demands? Like-wise, will smaller companies/labs be left in the wake of larger players such as Eurofins, Pace, SGS, ALS etc?

Congratulations to the team! Another positive success story! A biotech company wanted to focus its risk management efforts on its most vulnerable suppliers. However, with over 1,000 individual suppliers and multiple materials sourced from each, developing a robust critical list was a complex task. We enabled the client to develop a targeted hit list for investment/mitigation based on vulnerability and GP exposure – rather than the traditional procurement approach of measuring risk by how much is spent with a supplier. The client can now also put a financial loss against each supplier site, which facilitated the cost-benefit discussions for mitigation. The global supply chain challenges and the volatile geopolitical environment caused disruptions in the supply chain and affected the availability and pricing of logistics and raw materials. However, Orion’s supply remained on a good level throughout 2023. 💊 This is how we ensured reliable supply of medicines: 👉 Close cooperation with suppliers and systematic risk management: We proactively evaluate risks throughout the value chain and build collaborative relationships with our suppliers to ensure that risks to the whole supply chain are minimised. 👉 Establishing alternative suppliers and materials: As we see an increased risk with the availability and consistency to supply of selected raw materials, Orion is looking into alternative materials and suppliers, for example for all our secondary packaging materials. 👉 Increasing safety stocks for selected products. #SustainabilityReport2023 #SustainabilityHighlights #Sustainability #PatientSafety #Orion

In 2023, there was a 40% increase in the number of drugs discontinued compared to the year prior, contributing to the lasting impact of shortages. According to analysis using the #USPMedicineSupplyMap, this rise in discontinuations appears to be driven by economic factors like unfavorable pricing dynamics and lack of incentives to improve quality management systems. Find out how supply chain vulnerabilities like these fuel our national #DrugShortages, and the collective actions needed to solve it, via US Pharmacopeia’s new report: https://lnkd.in/eRMwVzGH
