Our team in #Bangladesh kicked off the #16Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence last week with leaders from Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Bangladesh, the Ministry of Women’s and Children’s Affairs, and Nuvista Pharma Limited. Forging strong public-private partnerships is essential to tackling the violence against women crisis in Bangladesh - where more than half of women have experienced physical and sexual violence and are married before age 18. As Pathfinder’s Shamima Parveen and YouthNet Global’s Sohanur Rahman recently wrote in their Daily Star op-ed: “Bangladesh is experiencing a profound moment of change, with the anti-discrimination movement, a new interim government, and accelerating climate change. Our nation is poised to enter a new era. A golden opportunity for reform in law and order, justice, government accountability, engaged and civically minded communities, and an equitable society for both women and men, has emerged." "We call on the new government to eliminate gender-based violence and advance the status of women and girls to encourage equitable economic development for people of all genders.” Read more: A golden opportunity for gender inclusivity | The Daily Star https://lnkd.in/ePE3HB-K #GBV #EndGBV #16DaysOfActivism #16DaysOfActivismAgainstGBV #PathfinderBangladesh
