We know climate change disproportionately impacts women and girls. Yet, they are still, far too often, excluded from the decision-making processes that shape climate adaptation strategies. Reflecting on her time at #COP29, Madiha Latif, our Pakistan country director, recognizes the critical role women play in building climate resilience in her latest blog on our site. She explains how, by empowering women, we can create more sustainable and equitable communities. She discusses how our work in Pakistan, informed by the Islamabad Declaration, highlights the power of women-led initiatives in addressing climate change. By partnering with the Pakistani government and local communities, we are empowering women to take charge of their future and build a more resilient world. Read the full piece to learn more about how women are driving change and why their voices must be heard in climate adaptation planning. https://lnkd.in/eYtXZqrb #ClimateChange #WomenEmpowerment #ClimateAdaptation #PathfindePakistan #GlobalHealth

At the GAMIVAL 6.0 Christmas Edition in Abuja Nigeria, our Nigeria team engaged with over 600 young people, sharing useful information about the FC2 Female Condom and demonstrating how to use it! At Pathfinder, we use innovative ways to reach our audience and create demand for sexual and reproductive health commodities. GAMIVAL was the perfect platform - with games, music, and comedy, we were able to connect with young people in a relaxed and engaging environment. Our goal was to create awareness about the internal (female) condom, and we're thrilled with the turnout! We are proud to be working on this project, which aims to reduce risky behaviours that lead to STIs and unintended pregnancies among young people. #PathfinderNigeria

Deeply rooted in Sindh’s cultural heritage, the timeless poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai resonates with the land’s spirit, blending words and melodies that tell stories of resilience and connection. Drawing inspiration from Bhittai’s legendary Surmi, a group of women have transformed this poetic tradition into a powerful movement for climate awareness. Under Pathfinder International’s Advancing the Leadership of Women and Girls Towards Better Health and Climate Change Resilience project, these women are traveling from village to village, using the universal language of music to ignite conversations about climate change and its devastating impacts. Their performances don’t just educate; they empower, creating ripples of awareness in communities most affected by climate crises. Climate disasters disproportionately affect women and children, who bear the brunt of displacement, food insecurity, and loss of livelihoods. Recognizing this, Pathfinder International is at the forefront of climate action in Sindh—amplifying women’s leadership to build resilient communities and foster sustainable solutions. We are thrilled to have this incredible initiative highlighted by Voice of America, showcasing how cultural traditions can inspire meaningful change in the face of a global challenge. #PathfinderPakistan #ClimateResilience

Our #RAPO2024 delegation is still buzzing from their active and productive time at the meeting in Dakar, Senegal earlier this month. This important meeting was an opportunity for Lydia Saloucou, President Africa, Dr. Asma gali yaroh, Country Director Niger, and Dr. Ginette Hounkanrin Country Director Burkina Faso to demonstrate Pathfinder's leadership on Reproductive Health activities in Africa. We highlighted our high-impact programs in Africa, mainly in Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, and Niger - Pathfinder countries that are active members of the Ouagadougou Partnership. In addition to sharing the Pathfinder experience as a speaker during Plenary Session 7, Let's Talk Cash! Impact of Geopolitics on DSSR/PF Funding, we had high-level meetings with key partners such as the Gates Foundation, the Hewlett Packard Foundation, and the UNFPA West and Central Africa Office. We discussed our impact in Africa, our vision for the region, and shared programmatic perspectives, so that we can better address the reproductive health needs within the Africa Region together. Looking forward to the new year ahead! #PathfinderAfrica

We commemorated World AIDS Day this year in Uganda and Mozambique by raising awareness about the importance of contraceptive methods in HIV prevention - with a focus on the Internal/Female Condom (FC2) as an empowering tool for women’s reproductive autonomy. It all happened under our project funded by the Female Health Company. In Uganda, Pathfinder participated in a pre-World AIDS Day awareness walk in Kampala alongside key partners like Uganda Cares, the AIDS Information Centre, and the Ministry of Health. During the 5 km walk, we engaged over 500 individuals, sharing information on various contraceptive methods, including FC2, and how female condoms contribute to HIV prevention and reproductive health. One participant shared: “Contraception like female condoms empower women to take control of their protection against STIs, HIV, and unintended pregnancies.” In Mozambique, our team hosted a webinar featuring experts from the Ministry of Health, National AIDS Council, and local organizations. The session explored combined prevention methods, emphasizing access to FC2 alongside other tools as part of a holistic approach to empower young women and promote reproductive health. With dynamic speakers and participants, the discussion highlighted the importance of reducing barriers, fostering community mobilization, and expanding access to comprehensive contraceptive options Together, we continue to champion access to reproductive health services and tools that empower women and girls to take charge of their health and futures. #EndAIDS #WorldAIDSDay #HIVPrevention #PathfinderUganda #PathfinderMozambique

Frontline health workers are the backbone of resilient health systems, providing critical care, saving lives, and preventing the spread of global health threats. In the final days of the 118th Congress, we're calling for action to invest in frontline health workers worldwide. 💡 Why it matters: Lives saved: Health workers are the first line of defense against diseases like malaria, HIV, and Ebola. Economic growth: A $1 investment can yield a $10 return. Global security: Strong health systems help prevent pandemics and stabilize nations. ✅ Congress must: Pass House Resolution 389 to recognize the vital contributions of health workers. Approve key funding in the FY25 Appropriations bill to support recruitment, training, and fair pay for these essential professionals. 🩺 Together, we can ensure resilient health systems for healthier, safer communities everywhere. https://ow.ly/atGw50Upca2 Project HOPE, Seed Global Health, AMREF, Frontline Health Workers Coalition, Action Against Hunger | ACF-USA, American College of Surgeons, CORE Group, FHI 360, GAIA Global Health, The G4 Alliance, Global Health Council, Management Sciences for Health, Medical Impact, Operation Smile, Partners In Health, Pathfinder International, ReSurge International, RTI International, Treatment Action Group (TAG), UNICEF USA, WaterAid America

The connection between drought and violence against women and girls may not be obvious, but unfortunately, it’s at the center of tragic stories unfolding across countries where we work today. This is one of those tragic stories from #Kenya, where women and girls from nomadic communities face sexual violence, child marriage, and unintended pregnancies as a prolonged drought dries up livelihoods and multiplies stress and conflict across communities. As we approach the last segment of the #16Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, this story is a stark reminder. We must continue to shift harmful gender norms and practices that leave women vulnerable to violence while addressing the reality that climate shocks and stressors are worsening the situation for women and girls everywhere. For all of us on the frontlines of making sure the world is better women and girls, the repercussions of climate change remain one of the most pressing issues of our time. https://lnkd.in/dAYjbqBf #GBV #EndGBV #16DaysOfActivism #16DaysOfActivismAgainstGBV
