🏆 The 3 nominees of this year's Pathways to Sustainability Award are known! A competition for the most innovative project that is #interdisciplinary in nature, involving #cocreation with stakeholders and leading to #societal #impact. On our conference day on 28 November with the theme #AtHomeConferenceUU the public will vote for the winning project. Get to know one of the three nominated projects! ✨ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 War destroys not only humans, but also the environment, and is a major obstacle for sustainability worldwide. Satellite imagery is critical in documenting the ecological impact of armed conflicts, showing damaged land, destroyed infrastructure, and many more. Using satellite imagery comes with risks. When practitioners overlook the complexities of conflict and environmental contexts, they may unintentionally expose sensitive information that can be exploited by military, criminal, commercial, or governmental actors. This misuse of data can result in severe ecological damage and intensify human suffering. The researchers have created new ethical guidelines and analytical tools to account for the ecological impact of war. This project will help minimize the ecological damage of war, balancing eco- and human-centric perspectives on conflict. This research is a collaboration between Universiteit Utrecht, PAX, NASA Lifelines Humanitarian Wayfinders Programme, Ariel Ozdemir, Thijs Jeursen

Space is transversal and omnipresent. Space policy *is* climate policy, economic policy, agricultural policy, energy policy, foreign policy, and so on. A crucial element of our everyday lives, in many ways space remains niche and highly underutilised. In the next fifteen years or so, however, space – in all its multitudes – will become a household topic of discussion. There will be room for many more players with all types of expertise from across various industries. ESA must continue to push for Europe's place as a leader in this changing context. Great 1-1 with Brooke Stokes from McKinsey & Company during Space Foundation's #SpaceSymposium
