AboutFaceDetroit, a nonprofit organization based in the East Village of Detroit, Michigan, has been awarded a $5,000 grant from Patronicity through the Lighter, Quicker, Cheaper Challenge Grant program. The grant follows a successful crowdfunding campaign that raised $8,500 from 179 patrons to install trash cans and reduce litter throughout the East Village. We launched the Lighter, Quicker, Cheaper Challenge Grant program to empower changemakers to develop strategies for implementing inexpensive, flexible, and quick improvements to improve the quality of life in their communities. Changemakers were challenged to launch a crowdfunding campaign for an eligible project with a goal of over $1,000. The campaign that raised at least $1,000 from the highest number of unique patrons would receive a matching grant of up to $5,000. AboutFaceDetroit, with a mission to restore home exteriors and boost community pride in East Village, capitalized on small contributions. With the most unique donors, AboutFaceDetroit was awarded a $5,000 matching grant from Patronicity. In addition, it raised the highest dollar amount of any campaign launched through the program, crowdfunding $8,500. The campaign exemplifies our commitment to using civic crowdfunding to build vibrant communities, showcasing what is possible when communities unite and take ownership of local change. #LoveNotLitter #EastVillageDetroit #DetroitStrong #LighterQuickerCheaper #Crowdfunding #Crowdfund #Placemaking #Community #PublicSpaces #CommunityDevelopment #Placemaker #Placemaking #PureMichigan

When it comes to public goods funding in the #web3 space, incentives are the main thing. 💸 But as Dobrosława Gogłoza, who's the Managing Director of Pomagam.pl - one of the most popular donation-based crowdfunding platforms in the world - & a trusted Advisor to Golem Foundation, people actually want to feel happier. 😄 Research shows that donating money to the causes we believe in increases our happiness. In fact, giving some amount of money to a cause that is important to us results in a greater increase in happiness than receiving the same amount. This says something really cool about humanity. 💚 We care about others and are happy to support them in need. We like to buy and get cool stuff, but sometimes we are even more excited about giving to see some meaningful change in the world. Or, if we can’t change the world, at least helping to change it for this one person or animal. People donate because they want to help bring about the world you envision. They believe in your vision and wish to make a statement about it. Here's a few things Dobrusia recommends focusing on: 😌 Remember that giving is emotional. 👩🎨 Create compelling stories and show real people. 🌍 Make people feel that they are part of something bigger than themselves. 🤗 Do things that people actually care about. 📖 Read the full piece by Dobrusia on the lessons from traditional donation crowdfunding on the Golem Foundation blog - link in the comments! 👇

Many thanks to Isabel Berwick for highlighting The Funding Network’s role in connecting inspiring small charities with people who can help them deliver their vital work at live events which have been described as “the best night out in London”. You can read the Financial Times article here (and it’s definitely worth the £1 to subscribe for a month to do so!) (🔗 in the comments) Thank you in particular for recognising that the value of our live crowdfunding events – which you rightly describe as “supportive and celebratory” and “exciting and compelling” – is as much the connections the charities make as the funds they raise on the night. Recent analysis of charities funded at our events, has shown that between 2019-2023, over 60% of our alumni went on to receive additional funds from people they met at the event. On average, these additional funds represented an uplift of 75%. In other words, for every £1,000 raised at a TFN event, these charities raised a further £750 after it. Want to experience a TFN event for yourself? There are a few places left for our final event of the year to be held tomorrow (#GivingTuesday) starting at 5.45pm and generously hosted by Macquarie Group You can register via🔗 in the comments. Oh, and at the event, we’ll be celebrating 10 years of support from Macquarie during which time they have hosted and provided hospitality for 15 of our live crowdfunding events on a pro bono basis. This has enabled us to raise £977,000 for 56 small charities. We feel a new milestone coming on…! Read more about our work in our most recent impact report and drop us a line if you’d like to know more! #ConnectionsThatChangeTheWorld Kawika Solidum

People often ask me, “How does WhyDonate stand out compared to other crowdfunding platforms?” It’s a tough question 🤔 There are lots of competitors, and many of them have massive budgets, bigger teams, and more name recognition. Sure, WhyDonate offers lower transaction fees, and we don’t charge anything for our features. But is pricing enough to set us apart? Here’s what I realized recently: it’s not our pricing, or even our features. It’s our support team. WhyDonate offers personalized, one-on-one support to every customer, 7 days a week. You can chat with us directly, or schedule a one-on-one call whenever you need help setting up your fundraiser or making a donation. And our customers notice. Just look at our Trustpilot reviews: 4.7/5 stars, with nearly every review mentioning our support team by name. In a world of automated responses and long wait times, real human support is rare. So if you’re looking for a donation platform where people care—WhyDonate has you covered. Big shout out to our customer support team Vaibhav, Sonali, Prabhudata, Rama, Rushikesh and Shreya 🙏 #CustomerSupport #WhyDonate #Crowdfunding #Fundraising #CrowdfundingPlatform #Donation

My Top 6 Reasons Why Non-Profits Run Crowdfunding Campaigns In my role at CauseMatch, I am fortunate to work with many non-profits in the US and Israel. When I talk to clients about their goals and why they are running a crowdfunding campaign vs. a more traditional campaign (I do get nostalgic for a good ole face-to-face parlor meeting), these are the reasons I most often hear: 👉 We need the additional funding in the next few months. 📅 The campaign is now baked in as part of our annual fundraising calendar. 🎂 It’s fun and energizing for our ambassadors and our community. 💪 Now that we’ve run one or more crowdfunding campaigns, it gets easier and we become better at it. ✅ It works. Other than major donor solicitations, crowdfunding consistently brings in more money than our other combined efforts. 🏃♀️ The campaign is usually over in a few days. There are no pledges to process and chase after, and the ambassadors and potential donors know there is a short window of time to reach the fundraising goal, creating urgency. As to that last point, there is no denying that a great deal of work goes into properly preparing for and executing the campaign, but the hard work pays off. #nonprofits #fundraising

Wowee - we’ve been absolutely blown away by the support we’ve had this weekend and the donations we’ve received into our crowdfunding campaiagn. We’d like to give our immensely grateful thanks to everyone who’s donated so far - every single penny really does make a difference! In case you missed it, we’ve set up this crowdfunder because, as we head into the last month of our financial year, Sunshine & Smiles and 21 Co. are looking at a £30,000 deficit on this year’s running costs versus income. Sunshine & Smiles remains a small, local grassroots charity. We are parent and carer-led, with the majority of our staff, volunteers and trustees having lived experience of Down syndrome. Eleven members of our 21 Co. team have Down syndrome. We support over 180 families across the city of Leeds who all have a loved one who has Down syndrome. We are unique to Leeds, and the support and services we offer are vital to our local community. Fundraising, grants & donations have been much harder to secure this year; there is huge competition for more limited funds available, and we know everyone has been hit by the cost of living crisis. A very important part of our ethos is that all of our support and services remain free of charge to everyone who wants & needs to access them – we don’t want there to be any barriers to people getting the support they need, when they need it. We desperately need to make up this shortfall, so we are asking you to help us. You can do this in a few different ways: ☀️ If you are coming to a Sunshine & Smiles activity, there is always an option to make a donation. Please do this if you can! ☀️ We have set up a crowdfunding campaign; please donate to this if you can, but also share far and wide with your friends and family! Donate here: https://lnkd.in/ehRA_xBF ☀️ Could you set up a fundraising page of your own to link to our crowdfunder? You could do anything: hold a bake sale, do a sponsored event, give us something for a month – it can be as accessible and inclusive as you want to make it! You can find the “Fundraise Now” link on our crowdfunding page above. Could your employer support us as their Charity of the Year? We really don’t like being in this position and having to ask for your help, but things have been really tough this year! We’re very grateful for any support you can give. Together, we can continue making a difference for the families we serve in our community.
