I spoke with a client last week who was preparing for a trip and we had a chance to go over some ways to keep his home safe when he’s away. I thought this information might be helpful to you in case travel is on your agenda! -Set timers. Setting timers on indoor lights is a great way to give the impression someone is home, therefore discouraging anyone thinking of making your house a target. -Turn off water. I have had countless clients whose pipes have frozen and/or burst while they were out of town. This can cause extensive damage to your home and is easily avoidable by turning off the water main when you are away. -Hold mail and newspaper. Nothing screams “no one’s home” like a pile of newspapers or mail spilling out of the mailbox. Be sure to fill out the appropriate online forms to hold your mail and paper while on vacation or have a neighbor pick it up daily. -Let your alarm company know when you will be gone. If you have an alarm system, it’s a good idea to let them know you will be out of town. They will be less likely to dismiss a call or alert if they are aware of your absence. Travel well! #TravelGal #traveltips #thorntonhalltravel

💡 Monday Travel Tip: Keep Your Home Safe Before You Travel! ✈️ One of the simplest ways to protect your home while you’re away is to pause your mail and newspaper deliveries. 📬✂️ An easy solution is to request a mail hold from your local post office or arrange for a trusted neighbor to collect your deliveries. This not only prevents your mailbox from overflowing but also helps maintain the appearance of a lived-in home, reducing the risk of break-ins. 🏠🔒 Taking a few minutes to handle this now can give you peace of mind during your travels. Safe travels, and enjoy your trip knowing everything at home is secure! 🌍✨ #TravelTips #HomeSecurity #SafeTravel #ProfessionalTravel #SuperblyJustifiable

These winter storms always seem to hit at the weekend don’t they? Our dog walk was wild! 💨 But even though it’s the weekend - I offer a 24/7 service. The UK has seen serious disruption all around the country today with rail, roads and airports all affected. These are the times when you’ll be thankful you booked with a travel professional, as you’re never alone. When the airline cancels your flight, their computer system 🖥️ will rebook you, or perhaps just offer a refund. When you book with a real travel professional (one with a 24/7 emergency Duty Office like Travel Counsellors ) then you have a direct line to a human 🧍♀️who can assist you - we are well-versed in handling delays, cancellations, and reroutings caused by weather disruption. We can quickly rebook the most sensible flight for you - not just the one the computer has found. We can find alternative transportation and adjust hotel reservations while you focus on staying safe or having another drink in the lounge 🥂 #stormdarragh #traveldisruption #humantouch #travelprofessional #flatcoatedretrieverincoming
