Unlocking a New Path in Psychiatry: The Power of Spiritual Awareness and Intuition In recent times, we've come to understand that healing the mind is not solely about addressing symptoms—it's about nurturing the soul. Embracing spiritual awareness and intuition brings forth an enlightening perspective that can profoundly transform psychiatry. Spiritual awareness fosters a deeper connection within ourselves, helping us uncover the hidden layers of our psyche. It teaches us to listen, truly listen, to what our inner voice has been yearning to express. This intuitive approach brings more compassion into mental health care, emphasizing empathy over mere diagnosis. When we integrate spirituality with psychiatric practice, we're not discarding science; instead, we're broadening the horizons of treatment options available for everyone seeking help. By honoring both medical expertise and personal intuition, we pave the way for holistic healing—a pathway where every individual feels seen and understood on a deeply human level. This revolution in psychiatry isn't just about new techniques; it's about reshaping how we perceive mental wellness entirely. Let's step forward together into this compassionate future where emotional well-being aligns harmoniously with spiritual growth. May the paths that we choose reflect our hopes, not our fears. #spirituality #mentalhealth #intuition #humanity

This study aimed to qualitatively explore the experience of childhood adverse events and coping strategies employed by individuals that promote resilience and better mental health outcomes. Methods: Fourteen individuals with a history of childhood adversity were recruited to participate using a case-study approach. A semi-structured interview guide was developed based on empirical evidence and theoretical background, and the interviews were analysed using a reflexive thematic approach.(...) Building on The Lancet Psychiatry's Commission on transforming mental health implementation research, I am pleased to share our latest correspondence discussing de-implementation to reduce coercive practices in mental health care. Led by PhD student Sophie Sergerie-Richard, co-supervised with Marie-Hélène Goulet, this article underscores the urgent need to leverage implementation science methods to de-implement coercive practices such as seclusion and restraint. We highlight the necessity of designing, developing, and evaluating tailored, equity-focused de-implementation strategies. Do you know how psychiatry can help you, your clients, or your friends and family? This talk has been really helpful to a lot of people! Some of which ended up becoming my patients, and others who decided to seek care themselves or talk to a loved one about considering seeing a psychiatrist. There's a giant mountain in the way for so many people who want to build their mental wellness and seeing a psychiatrist can be so anxiety provoking! ("Really?", I wonder. I'm pretty helpful with IMPROVING people's anxiety! If only they knew...) But I've broken it down here to help dispel some of the common myths about what psychiatry can do to help people. I know that not every prescriber practices the way I describe here, but there are a whole bunch who do! You know someone struggling with the idea of seeing a psychiatrist so please share this with them! It's on YouTube so anyone can view (and when you watch it please like and comment!😁) This is a solid first step to any of your clients or friends looking to find out more about psychiatry. And if you (or they) have questions send them my way! I love answering questions (even if sometimes the answer is "I don't know") Check out the video on YouTube and SUBSCRIBE while you’re there! Psychiatry and other fields of psychology have been considered political tools by many scholars for decades, often for a variety of reasons. The fact that the Iranian regime is using these practices as a means to criminalise and silence a woman's voice is deeply unsettling to me. This highlights the importance of rigorous research, critical thinking, and the interrogation of psychological constructs rather than simply parroting them. I must also note that the field itself is diverse, with many scholars and practitioners actively working against such misuse and striving for ethical standards. #CriticalPsychology #CommunityPsychology #PsychologyOfLiberation #FeministPsychology #DecolonialPsychology #Psychology

Psychology and psychiatry have long been about.... "fixing" individuals. But what if we aren’t broken? The cost of seeing reactions as “symptoms to treat” is: ▶ Your relationships ▶ Your physical health ▶ Your sense of purpose ▶ Your emotional well-being The trauma-informed approach shifts this narrative. It recognizes that our reactions—whether it’s anxiety, depression, or emotional outbursts—aren’t flaws but adaptations to experiences stored in the body. The focus isn’t on “fixing” but on understanding. And the wealth it offers is profound: ▶ Emotional safety ▶ Self-compassion ▶ Greater resilience ▶ Freedom to respond rather than react In my work, I see this every day: when we approach healing with curiosity instead of judgment, everything changes. It’s not about silencing the symptoms; It’s about hearing what they’re telling us. Trauma doesn’t just live in the mind—it’s felt in the body. By addressing the root, not just the reaction, true transformation begins. You’re not broken. You’re healing.
