Empathy allows you to connect deeply with others’ pain, understanding their struggles and emotions. However, it’s essential to recognize that while you can offer support, guidance, and a listening ear, it isn’t your responsibility to fix their problems. Everyone must navigate their own journey and learn from their experiences. Taking on the burden of solving others’ issues can be overwhelming and prevent them from growing. Directly focus on what you THINK ABOUT these people, places, events, situations, circumstances, conditions and things. 🛑If you are ever asked by someone you are paying to “treat” you, “How did that (she, he, it) ‘MAKE you’ feel?”please, as you stand to leave, ask that therapist if s/he believes that others can ever really “MAKE you feel” anything? ✳️Remember, we don’t “GET upset.” We contribute to, and create, our upsetness by believing that people and things can and do upset us.
