Container throughput at the Port of Rotterdam increased in the first quarter of 2024, marking the first rise in three years for the container segment. This period saw a 3.3% increase in throughput by weight, climbing from 31.5 million tonnes to 32.5 million tonnes. In terms of TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), throughput increased by 2.0%, reaching 3.3 million TEUs. Other shipping areas also reported positive results. Notably, feeder traffic from Rotterdam to Mediterranean seaports surged by 29.0%.
