⭐️ Be ahead ⭐️ Sadly the signs of pain in dogs often go un-noticed by guardians. Not because of neglect. Simply because many owners haven't encountered the right type of information about how to understand pain and how to prevent mobility decline in dogs. I have designed an online course for those of you who cant access me in person but want to adopt my proactive approach to your dogs joint health and wellbeing from the comfort of your home. The course content will help you: 👉🏼 Identify pain in your dog 👉🏼Understand anatomy, posture and form 👉🏼Understand the early signs of osteoarthritis 👉🏼 Alleviate tension in the main muscle groups 👉🏼 Understand strength & how to monitor it 👉🏼Build strength with targeted exercises 👉🏼Ensure your dog has better mobility for longer If you think your dog is slowing down, take action sooner rather than later. 🐶 Does your dog struggle with separation anxiety? It's a common issue, especially for our “velcro dogs” who love being by your side. A gentle, consistent approach can make all the difference. Start with short practice sessions—like stepping outside for a moment—without signaling what’s coming next. Gradually build their confidence in being alone. Here are five steps pet parents can take to help their dogs with separation anxiety: • Start with Short Absences: Practice leaving your dog alone for just a few minutes, gradually increasing the time as they become more comfortable.⏳ • Create a Safe Space: Designate a cozy, secure area where your dog feels relaxed when you're not around. 🏠 • Avoid Departure Cues: Don’t make a big deal out of leaving or returning; this helps prevent triggering anxiety in your dog.🚪 • Practice Independence: Encourage your dog to spend time in different parts of the house, even when you’re home, to build their confidence. 🛏️ • Use Calming Techniques: Try soothing activities like gentle music or calming scents to help ease your dog’s anxiety while you’re away. 🎶 Remember, this takes time and patience. 🐾❤️ We help dogs with anxiety and behavior issues using holistic therapies. I am as guilty as the next person for letting furry family members get too chonky but as Dr Janet Patterson-Kane FRCVS points out 👇 keeping our companion animals within a healthy weight range is important for their wellbeing. An under-explored strategy for healthy weight management in dogs is a nutritionally complete plant-based diet. As vet Prof Clare Knottenbelt says, in conversation with Dr Arielle Griffiths, when she transitioned her own dog to a nutritionally complete plant-based diet - "The transformation was unbelievable...He became this really healthy weight with no effort” https://lnkd.in/gaVkKT9k As far as I know there haven't been any clinical trials evaluating plant-based diets for weight loss in obese dogs but there's Tier 1 evidence in human medicine, and maybe veterinary medicine will cotton on soon too #animals #animalhealth #obesity #weightmanagement #dogs #plantbased #plantbaseddiets #petfood #diet

Are you unknowingly letting your furry friend pack on the pounds? While it is easy to point the finger at owners, there is some psychology at play here. One study done in the UK in 2022 found that only 14% of dog owners thought their dog was overweight. The reality is that up to 65% of them are, in that country. There is this danger of normalizing health issues. And the risks this creates - things that we might not even think of. Being overweight increases the risk of periodontal disease, for example. If you have a dog with a normal weight and body condition, people will often tell you your dog is 'too thin'. Getting us all out of thinking 'chonky' dogs and cats are normal or even cute is a task. I mean seriously, look at the images I used for this post....🙄 Any suggestions as to how we get there? #caninehealth #caninehealthyweight #normalizingdisease The views expressed in my posts are my own and do not reflect the views of my employer.

🐾 This week is National Walk Your Dog Week! 🐾 On average, around 41% of dog owners don’t walk their dogs regularly. That’s a startling statistic! Lack of exercise can lead to serious health issues for our furry friends, including obesity, arthritis, pancreatitis, kidney disease, and increased heart disease risk. Beyond physical health, bored dogs often become unhappy and exhibit destructive behaviors due to pent-up energy. Neglected dogs are also at a higher risk of escaping, ending up in shelters, or even facing euthanasia due to behavioral problems. This is why National Walk Your Dog Week is so important! It’s a reminder of the countless benefits of regular walks—not just for our dogs, but for us as well. Walking strengthens the bond between pet and owner and contributes to our own mental and physical well-being. As an added bonus, walking helps keep your pup's nails filed and may require fewer nail trims! Let’s get out there and give our dogs the exercise and stimulation they deserve! 🐶❤️ #NationalWalkYourDogWeek #DogHealth #PetCare #Wellbeing

*Take a Moment for Your Pelvic Health * Hey everyone, Dr. Shana here! It's crucial to take a moment and think about our pelvic health. Here are three simple tips to help you get started: **1. Mindful Breathing 🌬️** Place one hand on your chest and the other on your abdomen. Take a deep breath in through your nose, feel your abdomen rise, and exhale slowly through your mouth. This helps relax your pelvic floor muscles and reduce stress. **2. Gentle Pelvic Tilts 🤸♀️** Gently tilt your pelvis forward and backward, feeling the movement in your lower back and hips. This can improve mobility and relieve tension. **3. Stay Consistent 📅** Incorporate these exercises into your daily routine. Taking a few minutes each day to focus on your pelvic health can make a big difference! Remember, small steps lead to big improvements. Take care! 💙 #PelvicHealth #MindfulBreathing #PelvicTilts #HealthTips #PelvicFloorTherapy

‼️ Pain alert ‼️ We know there is a common trend amongst this community- that everyone loves their pets & wants them to live long happy lives…right? And we are trying to raise awareness about the importance of well made, properly fitted gear in dogs. We are not anti-harness. But there is a lot of mis information out there regarding use & type. Sadly in-spite of many owner’s best intentions, there are dogs wearing crap harnesses every day. And this has consequences for their long term health. Phrases like “no pull” or “vet approved” gives pet owners false & misguided hopes for products that actually cause pain ❌😵💫 Although we have used different dogs in this reel, I wanted to show the consequences in anatomical terms of pressure from a poorly designed harness resulting in painful trigger points in the tricep muscle which is being dry needled in the second photo. Food for thought 😵💫😵😖 - - - #dogharness #dogharnesses #dogharnessuk #comfort #mobility #caninephysicaltherapy #caninephysio #caninephysiotherapy #caninemassagetherapy #doghealth #knowledgeispower📚 #doghealthtips #pain #scapularmobility #scapularstability #shouldermobility
