Lori Swisher joined CFMA in 2016 and has been making an impact ever since as a board member for the Chicago Chapter and at the national level on the Small Contractor Round Table Task Force, the Peer Group Task Force, the Specialty Trade Committee, and a liaison during at the National Conference. Q: Tell us a little bit about your career path. A: I began my career in public accounting, then moved into the private sector, and finally transitioned to construction. I’ve worked in the construction industry for a mid-sized mechanical contractor for the past decade. Q: Why did you join CFMA? A: I joined CFMA because of the many resources, networking opportunities, and educational programs it provides. Being part of CFMA has been instrumental in advancing my career. Q: Why should other women consider a field in construction/finance? Words of advice? A: Embracing a career in construction and finance as a woman might initially present challenges, but it also offers the chance to be a trailblazer, breaking down barriers and inspiring positive change. My advice is to be confident in your abilities, seek mentorship from both men and women, and use your unique perspective as a strength. The construction industry benefits from diverse voices, and I believe that women have a crucial role to play in shaping its future. #cfma #womenshistorymonth #constructionfinance #leadership

Over the past three decades, the AIM portfolio has outperformed the broader market on a risk-adjusted basis by an average of 2% per year. Now, for the first time in Mendoza’s history, this student effort has reinvested back into the College with the establishment of the Applied Investment Management Alumni Collegiate Professor of Finance. The East of England is primed to contribute massively to the UK’s industrial strategy, and if we are given the support with adult skills and training, the region could be a colossal engine for growth, just as it already is for productivity. In our next roundtable (20/11/24), we want to discuss the recently published green paper on industrial strategy, and how we in the East of England make clear the importance of investing in our region to generate the growth our country desires.

Wrapped up an incredible elective module at INSEAD, a unique experience uniting students from TIMBA, EMFin, and all three campuses. With numerous electives available and a limit of four courses, I selected courses that build a strong foundation in both hard and soft skills. Key takeaways: Advanced Corporate Finance with massimo massa: Delved deep into the intricacies of corporate finance and understanding the critical role exit strategy plays in maximizing project value and mitigating risk. Storytelling & Decision Making with Marc Le Menestrel and Geneviève Flaven: Learned the art of crafting compelling narratives, recognizing the power of storytelling in influencing stakeholders and driving organizational change. Energy Transition Finance with @Pierre Hillion : Explored the complex dynamics of renewable energy projects, emphasizing the importance of subsidies, storage solutions, and grid integration. Real-world data from Germany and the UK revealed the challenges of energy transition - fluctuating prices and storage limitations. M&A Alliances and Corporate Strategy with Philipp Meyer-Doyle: Developed a comprehensive understanding of the M&A process, with a particular focus on the critical role of Post-Merger Integration (PMI) in realizing deal synergies. Having experienced PMI firsthand, I understand its impact on the synergies. Excited to apply these newfound insights to future challenges and contribute to impactful projects. #INSEAD #electives #leadershipdevelopment #finance #energytransition #M&A
