💡Here’s a tip: Trim your meeting time. 🕐✂️📥If you think you need to meet for an hour, make it 45 minutes. If it’s a 30 minute meeting, try for 20. Here’s why that’s a good idea: 🔵 Give yourself time to breathe 🔵 Give your meeting time to wrap up without butting against the next one 🔵 Take those 10-15 minutes for quick email responses. 🔵 Things that will take longer, drop into a folder and respond at once. Unless you’re already on top of your Inbox, in which case, you go pour yourself a glass of wine. Try it. Let me know how it goes. 🙌

Give yourself the gift of a meeting free day—space to go deep and lose track of time. I've been trying to carve out blocks of 2 to 4 hours a few times per week for focused work. Several weeks ago, I randomly ended up with a meeting free Friday. It was glorious. I was able to get stuff done, and I wasn't think about the next meeting on my calendar. Now I'm reserving every other Friday as a meeting free day. I block my calendar and, with few exceptions, don't offer those Fridays for meetings (one exception: a meeting that will advance what I'm working on that day). It might take some effort to find and keep that day clear. But it makes a huge difference, not only in the work delivered but also in the *experience* of work.

And for all of the meetings you *do* book, here are some ways to have better meetings: 1️⃣ Always include an agenda! It can include time breakdowns for each topic, pre-reading materials, a simple discussion list — it’s up to you! 2️⃣ Follow up with next steps and action items. Don’t be a ghost host — once the meeting is over, follow up with next steps, remaining questions, and to-dos. 3️⃣ Avoid back and forth emails for scheduling: Nobody has time for that. Try sending a Meeting Poll to gauge availability, or provide your availability upfront for guests to choose from. (All of which, you guessed it, Calendly can do. 😉 💙) Use these tips to make your next meeting smooth and easy. #BetterMeetings
