Before you go full send, make sure you don’t make these rookie mistakes: Winging it without a plan – "We'll figure it out as we go" sounds adventurous, but it’s also a fast track to not being on your best when the show starts. Champagne taste with a beer budget – It’s totally fine to dream big on a budget, but let’s talk about that upfront! Brand amnesia – If your booth doesn’t scream YOU, you’re doing it wrong. Don’t let visitors wonder who the heck you are. Forgetting about logistics – Just because your booth looks beautiful on a computer doesn’t mean it magically shows up on-site and ready to go. Buyers are like gold at a trade show…..everyone wants face time! Todays ASTRA PSA is simple but often forgotten in the moment. The real estate of every booth is paid for by a manufacturer. That is there office/building/home to conduct business. That is their space. As another manufacturer, you don’t need to be in that space, even if you see a buyer you know. Be respectful and mindful of their booth and their products. You can greet someone while standing within the confines of the aisle and not in their booth. If a buyer is clearly working in a booth, please allow them to work. There are plenty of opportunities to connect throughout the show. There are also times when I am headed to an appointment or working on something specific. Just because I don’t stop at your booth at that minutes doesn’t mean I won’t be back. I will walk this show, every single aisle, multiple time and multiple ways to be sure to see everything. It’s a show full of intense focus and fun!

Set Up Tip: It can require many people to make sure a venue is fully prepared for an event. Consider having your merchandise area set up early so that crew members can buy something before the show or event. Every penny earned counts.

✨ Run of Show Hack ✨ In a standard Run of Show, most #eventprofs include the basics: start time, end time, activity, location. The basics of who, what, where, when. If you add a "Category" column, you can group the activities by category (venue, F&B, AV, entertainment, etc). This will allow your team to see the entire run of show, but also filter by their categories to see just the details that pertain to them. Reflections from the Airport: As I head back to Baltimore after an awesome few days at the ASAE Conference, I wanted to share some takeaways that I believe can benefit attendees of ISA events—and really, any event! 1. Pre-Plan Your Exhibit Hall Time! Maximize your experience by pre-scheduling meetings and reaching out to exhibitors before the show. THIS IS KEY!! Make the most of every single minute! Do everything you can to ensure that your experience will be of value to you. 2. Support the Newbies! If you’re a veteran at an event, take a moment to guide a first-timer. If you spot someone eating alone, invite them to join you. Ask how their experience is going, and offer any help you can. These small gestures can make a huge difference. 3. Spread Some Positivity! I make it a point to give at least three compliments every day. Whether it’s “I love your shoes,” “You’re an amazing barista—best coffee on the show floor,” or “I’m so glad we met,” these little comments can brighten someone’s day. You never know who might need that smile!😊
