An advantage of working at a smaller company: You get to learn things you typically wouldn't do. I wanted to share this clip for a couple reasons. 1. DON'T BE AFRAID TO TRY SOMETHING NEW! I remember when by boss asked me if I wanted to learn to draw blood, I really wanted to but I was extremely nervous. I don't like getting poked myself, let alone poking someone else. Low and behold, he told me "I have good veins, try it on me." He wasn't scared and had trust in me that I could do it. And I did (however as you can hear in the video I had a trained phlebotomy instructor to help guide me 😅 ). Clearly I had no prior experience with phlebotomy, and there were a few mistakes. But I got my first time ever drawing blood on video and can look back to see how much better and more confident I have become. 2. RESEARCH IS EXCITING! Not in a million years would I think I could draw blood. Never. Along with that though I've gotten to learn many new things (clinic side and tech side), I've gotten to see how great patients have reacted to investigational products and to see new methods and ideas of how to help out our communities. https://lnkd.in/gjx3ybp3

𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰? It warms the cockles of my heart to see a interdisciplinary team working together to achieve transformative results. This interdisciplinary teamwork of a neurosurgeon, paediatric haemo-oncologist and radiation oncologist to transform the outcome of the life of this child requires transparent information exchange. This in turn requires the putting down of personal fears that others becoming better from information freely shared. This example is also at odds with a recent paper or journal I've read (I can't recall where) that had listed members having higher education qualifications being detrimental towards interdisciplinary teamwork (among many other factors.) #throwback During my tenure in the Neurodiagnostic field as a Registered EEG Technologist, I’ve… ✨publicly presented my lecture “Hair Comes Trouble: Getting to the Root of the Problem with African American Hair types and Styles in EEG,” at the 2022 ASET conference in Louisville, Kentucky, (first time ever)😬 ✨then virtually for Arizona ASET chapter, California Neurodiagnostic Society, and The Washington (state) chapter of ASET. ✨I’ve also updated patient instructions for more diverse inclusivity at Boystown National Research Hospital. ✨ I’ve also collaborated with colleagues to implement those same instructions for ASET overall. ✨I’m currently on the ASET membership & soon another committee,(tba)🤫 with ✨an updated prerecorded lecture available to all on myneuropathway.com ✨and an upcoming virtual lecture for a college in North Carolina next month… 🥹 when I write this out, it’s truly unbelievable and surreal. But only by the grace and mercy of GOD, my higher self, heart, journey, strength, perseverance, persistence, patience, staying true to self ALWAYS, my patients, GENUINE friends, family & supporters who truly love me, am I capable of going so hard. I thought it was over for me in this field years ago, but honestly no matter how hard someone tries to change you for their comfort, tarnish your name and/or deter you from your greatness and purpose, you keep doing you and believing in yourself. As long as you’ve done everything in your power with good intention and positive energy, still standing on what you believe and who you are, can’t nothing stop that car from moving. Everyone’s not going to be for you and that’s ok. Road blocks may be everywhere but when you fly spaceships, them small cars on that decrepit road going nowhere fast ain’t got nothing on you.😌You may not be everybody’s cup of tea, maybe they like coffee with stale milk, or maybe they do like tea just not your flavor…so. 🤷🏽♀️ So many obstacles and lord knows it wasn’t easy getting here. What’s for YOU is for you even if you don’t see it yet, I truly believe that. Stay true to self & create love & happiness ✨ #aset #eeg #neurodiagnostics #career #future #life #support

3 Lessons Speaking at My 1st Conference I spoke at the Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA) state conference 2 years ago today. It was exciting to see a full room interested to learn about burnout and nonclinical opportunities for therapists! Here's 3 lessons I learned: 1️⃣ Ask your network for help. Someone in my network recommended I contact the TPTA. If I didn't send the email, they wouldn't have known my interest in speaking. 2️⃣ Research can be deceptive. Preparing my presentation, I found the information in the abstract doesn't always line up with the data. Read the full article to check the quality of the study. 3️⃣ Opportunities don't come easy. I've submitted 5 different proposals with experienced conference speakers the past 2 years. 0-for-5. I haven't given up! P.S. What's your favorite conference?

The authors of this article highlight both the unique challenges faced by and the contributions made by academic medical centers (AMCs) that serve as their state’s lone AMC, through the experience of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. In addition, they lay out ideas to address some of the most severe threats facing lone AMCs. Although each lone AMC will need to devise solutions to address the specific challenges it faces, based on their own experience, the authors lay out three action items: (1) operate more like a private business, (2) expand investment in governmental affairs efforts, and (3) be selective and deliberate in identifying and investing in those areas that will become nationally recognized: https://nej.md/3OLet1R
