My honest, unfiltered thoughts about set safety in TV and Film: - production companies that are under immense stress, deadlines, and budget constraints make decisions that increase the risk of harm to their crew. - the numbers of fatalities on set is grossly underrepresented because it doesn't take into account independent, commercial, advertising or international productions. - the standard studio system prioritizes the protection of the studio/production safety above the filmmaker - some of todays most beloved TV shows and films have buried press around fatalities and injuries on their productions - if there were stricter set safety laws, the industry would be a healthier and less toxic industry to be in - without unions and organizations advocating for better set safety regulations, working conditions and safety protocols would be minimal at best - without the pandemic, many procedures around health and safety on set would not exist Join us at the Cinema Green Film Sustainability Summit on June 12 to explore the importance of set safety in the industry.
