I love this time of year and, for our Wildgoose team, it means one thing… it’s 'UnSecret Santa' time! 🎁 Let’s face it - traditional Secret Santa often means spending money on a random gift for a colleague that ends up in the back of a cupboard (or the bin!). So, a few years ago we decided to flip that idea on its head and instead of people having to buy something for someone else, we give each team member £75 to spend on themselves - a chance to treat themselves to something they actually want. Here’s how it works... ✨ We provide each team member with £75 and they pick their own perfect gift and send me a photo once it arrives. ✨ We then have a fun virtual get-together during the week of Christmas where we show all the gifts bought and have a quiz where people have to match the gifts to their buyers. Cue laughter, surprises and a bit of friendly banter too. I'm just putting together the slides for this year's gifts and there's some fabulous ones that will definitely make us all smile. It’s simple, fun and meaningful. Plus, it’s our way of saying a small but personal thank you to the team for their incredible efforts throughout the year. They’ve worked so hard and, as well as our in-person Xmas get together, this is a gesture to show we appreciate them - and that they deserve to treat themselves. For small business owners, I commend this to you as a fabulous festive idea. It’s affordable, brings genuine joy to the team and avoids the awkwardness of Secret Santa gifts that don’t hit the mark. Instead, our team gets something they truly value and we end the year with a brilliant shared moment. So, here’s to turning Xmas traditions on their head and spreading joy in new ways! How do you celebrate your team at this time of year? I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas! 🎅🎁 #ChristmasAtWildgoose #UnSecretSanta #TeamAppreciation #SmallBusinessIdeas
