“No organization, particularly a newsroom, can succeed unless it is cohesive and aligned.” Ceasar Conde, NBCUniversal News Group Chairman The FREE PRESS has been replaced by Aligned Agenda Media. Let's all share the same opinion and be aligned our thinking is a political party or a business on a mission as it does not allow for diversity in thought and opinion. If you celebrated the action that followed, you are wrong. If you were outraged by the action that followed, you are wrong. Fox News created a dangerous business but highly profitable model by spinning their news to the conservative right, a model that virtually all networks followed by replacing hard news with editorial as news. If you comforted and reassured while watching your news feed of choice you are not getting hard news. You are listening to editorial disguised as news. When your favorite anchor is a cheerleader it is no longer news and that is a danger to our democratic values. We are living the Digital Equivalent of Yellow Journalism.

Does anybody still believe that mainstream (and almost all alternative) news media organizations provide significant value? If you have not noticed the direct correlation between the ubiquitous combination of sensationalism and reliance on expert testimony, and grossly inaccurate journalism, please comment below or send me a direct message. I will be glad to explain with plenty of evidence. News organizations that accept advertising are invariably focused on the size of their audience – hence the click-bait journalism that gets your attention but is terribly inaccurate and lacking in context. Anyone who believes that the news is "free" values neither their time nor their brain. The only way to get the truth is to pay for it ... and to scrutinize content before deciding which organization(s) to support. In 3.5 years of operation, we have done nothing but deliver facts and logic regarding the big issues. And we run a tight ship so we can keep our subscription fees affordable. Your choice is simple: keep being disappointed – or, worse, unwittingly misled – by the "free" news you receive, or join the movement toward accuracy and integrity in the news industry at BIG-Media.ca. #news #media #journalism #intelligence #logic #respect

Constructive News: How to Save the Media and Democracy with Journalism of Tomorrow Negative stories make the news. Drama and conflicts, victims and villains are our modern world. Or are they? This revised second edition on constructive news challenges the traditional concepts and thinking of the news media. It shows the consequences media negativity has on the audience, public discourse, the press and democracy as a whole. The book also explores ways to change old news habits and provides hands-on guidelines on how to do so. Moreover, the book presents numerous examples from the author’s ten-year tenure as executive director of news at the Danish Broadcasting Corporation where he led a successful paradigm shift in news production. Constructive News is a wake-up call for a media world that struggles for a future, as well as an inspirational handbook on the next megatrend in journalism. https://lnkd.in/g25umZDn

It is time for action. The harm that comes with irresponsible – if not woefully incompetent – mainstream news media organizations has become quite apparent. When it came to issues such as COVID and climate change, they stopped doing investigative journalism and became PR firms. They saw that shocking/scaring their audiences with the latest tales of doom increased readership/viewership, which was good for the bottom line, and they ran with it. There is a desperate need for accurate and transparent journalism, and I believe that the incredible team of scientist/journalists at BIG-Media.ca and our unique editorial guidelines – which eliminate sensationalism and maximize accuracy – are the answer. In just three years, we have produced a body of work that has helped thousands of readers understand critical context regarding many of the most pressing matters. We would like to turn that into millions of readers as we evolve to a global platform. In order to preserve editorial objectivity, we do not accept advertising, sponsorship, or government funding, so we ask our members to cover a modest subscription fee. Many in my network have signed up to support this important initiative. Now, it's time for you to get involved. It feels good to make a difference, and that difference will be much greater with your support. Send me a direct message or type "Action" in a comment below for more information. #media #propaganda #pr #sensationalism #misinformation #disinfoirmation #intelligence #logic #respect

As someone who has worked in news media all his life, I take serious issue with people calling for a shift in how we report news, and what should be news so we can attract readers. In an era of influencers and people doing, saying and writing things just to move up a trend chart, news has never been more important. We need to read news, and not rely on second-hand referrals. Even when people come across something they want to read, they read a headline to react and discard the rest of the information. What we then have are half-baked ideas and semi-informed opinions competing with each other. News is not free, just because you pay your internet service provider does not mean you've paid for what you can access. This is true and understood in everything, except with news. You have paid for your isp but that does not mean you can watch streaming platforms without committing, you have paid for your car, but you aren't going anywhere without fuel or a charge. Why then do we expect news to be free? When something is free, you are the product. When a news company has billions behind it, interrogate that information even more closely. You shouldn't believe everything in a book, nor should you believe everything on free platforms. That's why we need to protect news, support it, you are supporting the truth. Balanced, fair truth. Information that will leave you with a decision to make, not one made for you. Journalism can make money, not riches, but it can be sustainable. The challenge is getting the reader to know why it's important to be informed.
Opinion | Journalism may never again make money. So it should focus on mission.

My Thoughts: In 1992 when I was News Director at KHOU-TV, my consultant came to me and said, "I have a niche that will continue to help you grow ratings." And"that is?" "You need to start doing entertainment news." My response was quick and to the point. "Not going to happen, once Journalist begin reporting entertainment news, reporters and anchors will be bitten by their own fame. It will be a slippery slope, content will take a backseat to quality journalism. Reporters and anchors will seek their own self interest and their image will be more important than journalistic integrity." It obviously has become the mantra for many in journalism today and the repercussions are obvious. Today major broadcast outlets, newspapers and magazines are focused on clicks, likes and followers which has created a self reinforcing loop of safe news to placate their viewers and readership. Fear of losing ratings, viewers and readership has created an environment predicated on the ideological bent of the individual broadcast and print companies. The public sees it, ratings, readership and respect for journalism is at an all time low. Respectfully, get back to quality reporting framed with balanced story telling and a commitment to truth regardless of ideological differences.

SubX.News seems to operate at the intersection of investigative journalism, community engagement through digital platforms, and possibly entertainment or cultural commentary. However, the exact nature of their operations, especially concerning direct news reporting versus aggregation or commentary, might blend traditional journalism with modern content creation strategies aimed at engagement across various social media and subscription-based models. Given the information, SubX.News could be described as a dynamic entity in the news and media landscape, focusing on local investigative stories while also engaging with broader digital culture trends through social media and live streaming. Always check directly with their latest content or official statements for the most accurate representation of their current activities or focus ... In this era of 'fake news' and 'do your own research', why do people NOT trust traditional media? What is the connection to citizen journalism? Any examples should be from the last 5 years. Due to the current circumstances of fake news and DYOR trends, the existing perceptions of media bias, sensationalism, and the influence of corporations and politics make people turn to more unconventional sources. The traditional media are considered to be the deliberative control of information, possibly fearing news through their own and owners and advertisers’ perspective. This skepticism is made worse by other cases in which the media has been either proved to be wrong, partially right, or biased. In this respect, the Hawthorne Effect is at work here, where being watched by both the clients and other media outlets makes the traditional media to become more ethical. Yet, when they are unable to do so, they contribute to the weakening of people’s faith.

Big Tech and the News 👀 🎙 Sharing an interesting conversation between Justin Hendrix & Rebecca Rand about the current state of journalism. News and journalism organizations and dominant tech companies are in a years-long battle over content, clicks, and revenue, and the tech companies are winning. What are policy options that encourage both the sustainability and quality of news content on popular online platforms? Quite interesting! 🎧 https://lnkd.in/ezkUZ78e

Stagwell's Future of News initiative started because we believe that the need for quality journalism has never been more important - and the opportunity to invest in the news to drive business results and bolster reputation is now. At the Guardian US, we agree wholeheartedly. Check out our open letter to the industry, running in print and online – which states “Business leaders need to work together to create a new virtuous cycle, one in which advertisers and consumers support news. When news organizations thrive, brands drive business results from reaching valuable audiences, and quality journalism prevails.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ddNghp54 #newsisthefuture
