As I sit at DFW for my next flight, I'm reflecting on my journey this past year and a half. From Nov 2022 thru June 2023 I applied for well over 500 jobs, relevant to my experience and desire. I interviewed with only two companies, one of those companies for the same role at three different locations. I was perplexed and dumbfounded by the whole turn of events. Then finally I got an interview with my current company, #BELFOR, and was hired on the spot. My great desire was to find a job that would allow me to travel, give me an opportunity to lead and inspire others, and allow me to use my creative intellect to make an impact. And I got EXACTLY what I was hoping for. These past few years, leading up to and following the passing of my father, were the toughest I had ever experienced. But through it all, faith, family and friends got me through it and I am extremely grateful for all of you in the role you played, both great and small. God does answer prayers and if you weather the storms inbetween, there are so many sunrises and sunsets to behold. Never give up. You may feel like a failure, you may feel like you are failing others, but you're not. It's all part of God's plan and you are the hero of the story, and the hero always prevails! #CareerJourney #JobSearchSuccess #PersistencePaysOff #GratitudePost #FaithAndWork #ProfessionalReflection #NewBeginnings #LeadershipOpportunity #CareerMilestones #LifeAfterLoss #NeverGiveUp #BelieveInYourself #BelforSuccess #CareerGrowth #ThankfulHeart #InspirationStory

Are you appreciated? Three clients recently changed jobs. All were good at their jobs, motivated, and had strong relationships with direct reports, peers and their managers. They had been with their companies for 7-11 years. And all felt taken for granted and under appreciated. I remember how excited I felt when I started a new job. There seemed to be a honeymoon period where I felt that the organization was really happy to have me. I got a lot of positive feedback, exciting projects and rapid promotions. After a few years, it seemed that the same good work was expected and less appreciated. Sometimes a new person was hired who got the attention and recognition I had gotten before. I became disillusioned and when the head hunters called, I was much more open and took another job. Is it the case that in any relationship we lose sight of all the good and start to take the other person for granted? Do we as employees stop doing our best work and exert less energy into the relationship? How do we break the cycle or should we expect that’s just the way it is? #juicywork #leadershipdevelopment

𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗔 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 On this #LuckyPennyDay we want to share a story that shows why it’s worth reaching for your dreams. We recently helped a candidate navigate a tricky hiring process, much like a game of chess. Her current employer tempted her with counter-offers, including promotions and more money. Despite this, she stayed focused on her goal. Our client, recognising her true potential, patiently waited and addressed all her concerns. Today, she’s thriving in her dream job with them. This story reminds us that while staying in a familiar job might feel safe, sometimes stepping into the unknown leads to true success. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗹𝘂𝗰𝗸𝘆 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸? 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀. I have been posting and or reposting about challenges in the workplace that many Stakeholders simply do not see or they choose to let their Chief of Staff manage. Which means, in most cases, Stakeholders only learn about a serious problem when it escalates. There has been so much content in the last 6 months, clearly - there is a LOT wrong in too many organizations. After a zoom meeting with a CEO last week, we both agreed that, through our resources, somewhere in the range of about 75 people, in a certain industry, are out in the marketplace looking for a change. The sad part of that talk was, only about 8 of these folks can repeat their success over and over. The rest change jobs every 12 to 24 months. This post is great because it puts the focus on the US. The individuals. Choose to create your own brand. Choose to make you and your brand relevant. When you and your brand are out there doing what it takes to help others succeed, everyone wins. Stakeholders hear it, even when they are not listening. Please keep posting this kind of content folks. It helps all of us learn, get better and learn that change is a requirement - not an option.

I used to think career success was about what I did. Then I learned it's about who speaks when I'm not there. I spent the first 10 years of my career thinking late nights got me promotions. It turns out it was the 2-minute conversation someone had about me when I wasn't there that moved the needle. What I thought moved my career forward: Saying "YES" to everything Working endless weekends Being the last to leave Those things helped, but what really moved the needle? The people (leaders, influencers) who highlighted my success, potential, and work when I wasn't even in the room. What actually created momentum: Stretch assignment conversations in leadership meetings Promotion discussions I never knew about Salary negotiations(raises) behind closed doors It's not just about who speaks up for you. It's about giving them something meaningful to "speak about." Your work is important, but the way you show up is just as important. Your character will always outweigh any narrative others try to create, and what's meant for you will find its way, because those who truly know you, see you. (I've seen this happen so many times :) ) Be grateful for those who speak your name with respect when you're not there – and make sure to be that person for someone else. -- Join the waitlist for my Executive Material Program, a four-month group coaching program designed to help people leaders and experienced individual contributors communicate and operate like executives to land promotions and new opportunities. Launching in January 2025. https://lnkd.in/g99gspix

A year ago today, I experienced the unexpected – being laid off from a job I had dedicated so much of my life to. It's a strange feeling, and I can't help but acknowledge the mix of emotions that accompanied it. In all honesty, there was an unusual sense of relief for me, though I felt a tinge of guilt knowing that not everyone shared the same sentiment. I was already on the path of exploring new opportunities, interviewing, networking, and preparing for a change prior to this news. Little did I know that my journey was about to take an unexpected turn. Fast forward to today, and it feels both like a distant memory and a fresh wound. The only lingering frustration, albeit diminishing, is not being able to leave on my own terms. Timing is a curious thing. Ironically, just 24 hours after the layoff, the job I had been eagerly eyeing reached out, scheduling an interview. Fate has its own sense of humor, it seems. I can't deny the privilege of swiftly finding a new job in this challenging market. Many are still navigating through uncertainty, and I empathize deeply with their struggles. Despite the initial relief, there were days when self-doubt crept in. It took time, but I've regained my confidence and understand my true value. Here's to the journey, the lessons learned, and the resilience gained. Excited for what the future holds! #CareerJourney #Reflections #CareFlight

I usually don’t share what I’m feeling, but here it goes. Lately, I’ve been reflecting on my journey and the challenges I’ve faced, particularly during my transition out of Active Duty Air Force. Over the past 4-5 months, I’ve applied to numerous positions, and out of hundreds of applications, I’ve only received two interview invites. I’ve realized that the issue isn’t with the employers—it’s with me. I haven’t been tailoring my resumes as effectively as I could, and I’ve often sold myself short. Why do I do this? Because for most of my life, I’ve been afraid to fully share my potential with the world. But I’m working to change that. To combat this, I’ve been focusing on personal growth. Working out more has helped me release stress and gain clarity. I’ve also been pushing myself to take action, trusting that by doing so, I’ll start believing in my abilities. I’ve come to realize that the only person stopping me from success is myself. This time, I won’t let self-doubt hold me back. I will believe in myself and let employers make the decision. If I’m not the right fit, that’s okay—I’ll move on to the next opportunity with no hard feelings. I’m ready to take on the next challenge in my career, knowing that success requires effort, resilience, and the belief that I can achieve my goals. #MilitaryTransition
