PETALING JAYA: Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), through Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM), said it aims to bolster the robustness of the local oil and gas sector with two new initiatives. In a statement today, the national oil firm announced the launch of the Integrated Well Continuity Services (IWCS) contract and the plans for the establishment of the MPM Hydraulic Workover Unit (HWU) Academy. The IWCS contract is designed to address the challenges posed by rising costs and dynamic market conditions by introducing a more balanced approach to cost and margin management compared to the earlier Integrated Well Services (IWS) model,” said Petronas. It said that the implementation of IWCS adopts a comprehensive contracting strategy, segmenting the work into four primary packages and 13 sub-packages that cover critical areas such as well interventions, well abandonment, and workover, as well as subsea intervention services. Following a thorough and rigorous technical evaluation process, 34 qualified panel contractors were selected to deliver the work, and this new approach is expected to foster equitable and effective collaboration in engineering projects for wells,” Petronas added. MPM senior vice-president Bacho Pilong said the IWCS contract was a major leap in Petronas’ wells management strategy, focusing on resource optimisation and job continuity. “In addition, the MPM HWU Academy will be essential in strengthening local expertise to future-proof the sector,” he added. He said Petronas continues to prioritise initiatives such as the IWCS contract and the MPM HWU Academy to enhance operational effectiveness and foster collaboration across the industry. These efforts will contribute to strategically positioning Malaysia more competitively in the global energy market,” said Bacho. Petronas said the MPM HWU Academy is expected to be launched next year and will play a pivotal role in developing specialised skills in well abandonment and workover. It added that the MPM HWU Academy was established through a memorandum of understanding between Petronas and both local and international HWU service providers, aiming to empower a capable workforce for the sustainable growth of the local oil and gas industry.

Exciting Developments in the Kuwait Oil Industry! The Mutlaa fuel depot project, valued at approximately $850 million, is gaining momentum. According to MEED Magazine, seven companies, including global players like Sinopec (China), Miel and Larsen & Toubro (India), Hesco (Kuwait), and Petrofac (Britain), have acquired tender documents. Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) extended the bidding deadline to April 30, providing more opportunities for contractors to join the process. The scope of work for the project includes developing new pumping facilities at the two oil refining stations in the ports of Ahmadi and Shuaiba, extending pipelines from the stations of the two ports, establishing a warehouse for the local market, installing safety systems, installing fire-fighting systems, and building storage tanks. Oil and gas companies saw a drop in employees from 2013 to 2020, except for TotalEnergies (likely due to counting gas station staff). Since 2021, some companies like Shell and bp are adding staff again. Overall, the industry lost many jobs in the past decade, but there are signs of a recent slight increase. #pakistan #pakistaneconomy #oilandgas #oilandgascompanies #oilexploration #gasindustry #offshore #lahore #karachi #islamabad

*“For job opportunities in Jafurah Project”* 😎 Saudi energy giant Aramco has awarded contracts for five key engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) packages of the estimated $10 billion second expansion phase of its Jafurah unconventional gas production project, MEED reported. India’s Larsen & Toubro Energy Hydrocarbons scooped the award for Package 1 and 3 worth $3.9 billion for the gas processing plant, main process units, and gas compression units. South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering secured a $2.4 billion contract for Package 2 that includes utilities and offsites. Spanish contractor Tecnicas Reunidas landed contracts for Riyas natural gas liquids (NGL) package 1 that includes NGL fractionation trains and Riyas NGL package 2 including utilities, storage and export facilities. The total value of both contracts stands at about $3.2 billion. All three companies that secured awards were ranked as top contractors on Oil & Gas Middle East. #oilandgasindustry #jafurahproject #oilandgas #constructionindustry #oilandgasnews #newsupdate
