Each year, over 50 million tonnes of e-waste is generated, much of it ending up in landfills or improperly disposed of. The environmental and health risks are immense, from toxic materials contaminating soil and water to the loss of valuable resources that could be recycled. As technology continues to advance, this challenge will only grow. Tackling the e-waste crisis requires innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to a circular economy. What steps do you think are most urgent to address this issue? Read more https://lnkd.in/dUcQbneb

Got any e-waste? If yes, you're not the only one. But please don't throw it in the bin. Way too much of that is happening already! The latest figures go to show that for every 1 electronic item that gets recycled, 5 items end up in landfill. This worrying stat goes to show the critical widening gap for sustainable management of e-waste across the entire world. Heavy metals, plastics and toxic chemicals cause serious damage to the environment if not properly processed and endangers human health. Recycling e-waste is better than just simply chucking it in the bin but, at ICEX GROUP, we believe that reusing it is much better for everyone. We're committed to the circular economy and we're on a mission to, by the end of the decade, put a total of 1 million items in the hands of those unable to buy brand new. This process extends the life of IT assets, stops us using up more of our limited resources and requires no additional energy consumption. The circular economy protects the environment and improves digital equality. If you're business has end-of-life IT equipment please don't just throw it away. You're putting your data at risk and causing even more damage to our planet. The growing challenge of E-Waste In America... Not recycling e-waste through the proper channels can cause major issues for both the environment and individual organizations. According to the EPA only 25% of e-waste is recycled properly in America! The 3 R's of recycling are often referred to as Reduce, Reuse and Recycles. In my opinion there is one "R" that stands above the rest... and that is REUSE. By reusing, we reduce the amount of electronics that end up in a landfill and minimize the amount of energy used for recycling. Check out our blog to see how working with a certified recycler can help with your companies e-waste needs. https://lnkd.in/e-gJWanQ

E-waste is a growing crisis that poses significant health and environmental risks. Every year, 54 million metric tonnes of electronic waste are generated, and the United Nations Environment Programme warns that this could double by 2050. Unfortunately, only 17% of this waste is recycled. We must advocate for fewer purchases, more recycling, and sustainable e-waste management systems. Manufacturers must design products that last longer, are easy to recycle, and move towards a circular economy. Let's work together to combat this issue and strive for a pollution-free planet. https://lnkd.in/e9gnJhD3

The global #E_waste problem is growing rapidly, with a record 62 million tonnes produced in 2022, according to the Global E-waste Monitor. Shockingly, only 22% of this waste was recycled, while the rest ended up in landfills. E-waste includes discarded items like phones, dishwashers, and toys, many of which contain valuable materials like gold and copper. This not only adds to pollution but also wastes billions of dollars in reusable resources. It's crucial for consumers, manufacturers, and governments to step up efforts to tackle this urgent sustainability challenge. Check this great article about the urgent global e-waste problem and the crucial need for #clean_technologies to improve e-waste recycling and recovery. https://lnkd.in/gnpkmuFY

Sometimes, a tweet conveys more than a lengthy text. A tweet on X compared the sustainability of traditional plates and recycled carton plates, showing that traditional plates are more sustainable. Interestingly, this tweet came from Environmental Paper Network, an organization that unites hundreds of NGOs globally to advocate for environmental and social responsibility in the pulp, paper, and biomass industries. https://lnkd.in/eirmVdR9 #traditionalplates #recycledcartonplates #sustainability #environmentalimpact #reusesystems #singleusepackaging #durability #reusability #wastereduction #resourceconservation #infrastructure #consumerengagement #logisticalefficiency #regulatoryincentives #economicbenefits #carbonfootprint #environmentalresponsibility #longtermsavings #technologicalinnovation #recyclingprocess

While noteworthy progress has been made in recent years, the amount of waste recycled worldwide each year is falling significantly short of internationally agreed targets. Most waste still ends up in landfills or is disposed of through methods such as incineration or simply ends up in the environment, where it causes damage to fragile ecosystems and vulnerable human populations. "Robert Watson, principal at Upland Road, pitched the SMART center, a materials processing and manufacturing campus he said could convert 90% of municipal solid waste to “productive use” by co-locating proprietary separation systems with other features, like manufacturing facilities and research centers. Watson, who helped launch several sustainability standards, such as SWEEP and LEED, pushed back against the idea that the proposed SMART center is a “dirty MRF 2.0.” The system could have 60 to 70 different sorting technologies, and multiple manufacturing and conversion options, capable of sorting up to 2,400 tons a day of municipal solid waste into multiple streams for recycling, composting, reuse and other applications, he said." https://lnkd.in/ewNKsja4? #CircularEconomy #Future
