For many young women in Nepal, healthcare services in a time of emergency are simply absent. Luckily, Babita was able to travel to her PHASE Health Post, which was close enough to her home that she didn’t have to endure a long and dangerous journey. She shared: “I had been in extreme pain for more than 9 hours. I know I would have lost my baby if I was not brought here. I now understand how you can save lives. I will tell other pregnant women to seek health worker support.”

🚨 Tragic Reminder of Nepal’s Healthcare Inequities 🚨 The heartbreaking news of a postpartum mother and her newborn losing their lives on the way to a health post in Bajhang highlights a grim reality: the urgent need for accessible, quality healthcare in rural Nepal. This is not just a health issue—it’s a human rights issue. The right to health, enshrined in Nepal’s constitution, must translate into equitable healthcare for all, regardless of geography. We must advocate for stronger health infrastructure, trained personnel, and access to emergency care in remote areas to prevent such tragedies. It’s time to prioritize the lives of those often left behind. ➡️ Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e3gkzeRU #HealthForAll #HumanRights #Nepal #RuralHealth #RightToHealth

New study reveals critical insights into India's community health worker program! A comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) in India unveils significant knowledge gaps across various health domains. While ASHAs demonstrate strong understanding in non-communicable diseases (73%), their knowledge in maternal health (62%) lags behind, highlighting areas for targeted improvement. These findings have far-reaching implications for India's rural healthcare delivery. By addressing identified knowledge gaps and implementing tailored training programs, we can significantly enhance the effectiveness of the ASHA workforce, ultimately improving health outcomes for millions. I'm intrigued by the potential of this research to reshape community health worker programs globally. Health is the foundation upon which all other aspects of life are built—education, employment, and personal fulfillment. Yet, for many, barriers such as poverty, lack of access to healthcare, and inadequate health education stand in the way. This is why we are dedicated to breaking down these barriers and ensuring that essential healthcare services and health education are accessible to all. Through our initiatives, we provide medical camps, distribute essential health supplies, and promote preventive care across underserved communities. We work tirelessly to create environments where health equity is a reality, not just an aspiration. Join us in advocating for a world where health is truly a right for everyone, not a privilege for the few. 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐥𝐥 We may be underserved, but we are never undeserving. This belief drives public health efforts to 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥, ensuring no one is left behind. India’s 𝐀𝐲𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 (𝐇𝐖𝐂𝐬) are a testament to this commitment, providing primary care services to rural and marginalized communities. Another example is the 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐚 𝐘𝐨𝐣𝐚𝐧𝐚 (𝐉𝐒𝐘), which incentivizes institutional deliveries, significantly improving maternal and child health outcomes among underserved populations. Such initiatives remind us that public health must always strive to reach and uplift those most in need #publichealth #publicpolicy #india

Raising Awareness About Maternal Schemes A significant challenge in maternal health financing is the lack of awareness among beneficiaries, with nearly 37% of surveyed BPL mothers in Karnataka unaware of available benefits, according to a GRAAM study. Directing beneficiaries to appropriate authorities for documentation is crucial. ASHA workers play a vital role in this, serving as key sources of information. By leveraging tools like the Thayi card, ASHA workers can educate eligible mothers about schemes and documentation requirements. Empowering ASHA workers to disseminate information ensures that eligible mothers are aware of and can access available benefits, ultimately strengthening scheme awareness and improving maternal health outcomes. Fostering Community Engagement for Improved Healthcare As part of our child, adolescent and maternal health program we joined members of the West Nile Civil Society Network for a community score card at Tara primary school in Maracha District aimed at discussing issues affecting health services delivery in Tara health center. In attendance included the Facility Health in charge, midwife, Health Unit Management Committees (HUMC) Chairperson, Subcounty officials some CSO's mother's and other community members. Some of the identified issues include inadequate maternity ward, poor time management by some health workers, inadequate staffing hence overwhelmed staff for growing population and poor service delivery, drug stock outs for some essential drugs, broken door/ window glasses causing insecurity and health risk for the patients. Engaging members of the community together with duty bearers in such sessions not only provide an accountability mechanism but also make the community aware of the services being provided for the government enabling both access and usage of key social services. We are excited to kick off the follow up process for the actions to ensure everyone is able to access and use health services as health is a fundamental human right. #Health4All #CommunityEmpowerement #StrongerTogether
