Senior Employment Lawyer

A pleasure to be ranked in the top 20 #Linkedinfluencer list, representing the indies. Thanks to my 17,300 + followers for engaging with me here on LinkedIn. This week will be a key week in #UKpolitics. On Wednesday 17 July we have the #King’sSpeech. That is not a reference to the excellent 2010 film featuring #ColinFirth, #HelenBonham-Carter and #MichaelGambon; but the formal occasion when the King, on behalf of the new UK government, will set out its #legislativeagenda and the formal #StateOpeningofParliament. Government Departments are working on more than 35 bills [draft acts of parliament] to deliver what the government describes as “an ambitious parliamentary session that will be built on a bedrock of economic security, to enable growth that will improve the prosperity of our country and the living standards of working people”. #Employmentlawyers like me are anticipating that between 5-10 of those 35 bills may relate to employment law, so Wednesday will be along day! I will publish a note on the key aspects of those draft laws when they have been published, and I have read them all. Similar to when the budget is produced when accountants and tax advisors race to publish a note on the impact, I will seek to do the same – but looking at the impact on employment law. As a quick reintroduction: #PhilipHenson (employment lawyer) I am a senior employment lawyer in London (with 20 years’ experience), who is fortunate to work with amazing national and international corporate clients (from #banks, #embassies, #financialserviceproviders, #investors, #media, #arts, #logistics, #development, and many #SME’s in their #growthphase). I also #seniorexecutives across all sectors, but usually #HNWindividuals and #industryleaders in #financialservices, #insurance, #thearts and #fashion. Outside of my busy legal practice, I seek to help the legal community in my position as President of Westminster & Holborn Law Society and as a member of the Council of the The Law Society. I have a busy family life with 2 young kids and a puppy cockerpoo (Zeus). One of my main passions is #film#independentshortfilms in particular. Over the last 10 years, I have been privileged to have worked with talented teams to create two #awardwinning short films, and I love writing short film scripts. I have written a dark comedy short, called #VikingFuneral, which is being #developed at the moment, and which we hope to film in late 2024. I am also a jury member of the #BritishShortFilmAwards, which means that I get to see a lot of superb short films from the UK and overseas, which are a source of constant inspiration. Congrats on the influencer list Phil -Love the cockerpoo name - getting a puppy in August but my 16 year old wants to name after west coast rappers - not keen on shouting “Kendrick!” across the park…
