Should you be offering a streaming service to your hotel guests? In today's competitive hospitality industry, offering streaming devices to hotel guests is essential for enhancing satisfaction and fostering loyalty. With the rise of digital technology, guests expect the same comfort and convenience they enjoy at home, including access to popular streaming services like Netflix, Prime Video & Amazon Studios, and Hulu. Millennials, in particular, value personalized experiences and often bring their casting devices when traveling, indicating a desire for tailored in-room entertainment. This includes popular streaming devices, such as: Google Chromecast Roku Streaming Stick Amazon Fire TV These devices provide intuitive interfaces and access to various streaming apps, allowing guests to personalize their entertainment experience. Incorporating streaming devices into hotel rooms meets guest expectations, garners positive reviews, and enhances the overall guest experience. As technology evolves, hotels must adapt to industry improvements and prioritize guest preferences to remain competitive. https://hubs.li/Q02pgYSk0 #HotelInnovations #TechForHotels #HospitalityTech #GuestsFirst #TravelSmart #EnergizingHospitality #InnovativeHotels #TechInHospitality #PropertyDevelopment #BestInPropTech #AllbridgeAdvantage #GuestExperience

When TVs first became mainstream in guestrooms, hotels initially offered just a limited number of channels. It was only when cable and satellite TV became prevalent that customers came to expect significantly more choice. In the 1980s and 1990s, guests started to see VCRs in their hotel rooms, allowing them to rent and watch movies at their convenience. Next came pay per view content which enabled easy access to movies, sports events and, of course, adult content (unfortunately not here...... 😅) , generally for a fee. However, in hotels, this type of pay TV content typically played on a loop, and guests would either have to accept jumping in part way through or wait for the movie to restart on the pay0TV channel. Now that fast, speed internet connectivity is common, many hotels have upgraded their in room entertainment system to smart TVs, enabling guests to access many of the leading streaming services. In addition, WiFi is usually offered as a standard, enabling guests to also use their own devices for entertainment. It is clear that while guests were once satisfied with a limited selection of channels and pay TV content, they now demand more choices, with the ability to watch what they want, when they want it. They also want an easily accessible, high quality, personalized viewing experience. To meet these evolving demands, hotels are increasingly providing guests with a means of accessing on demand content, either through streaming services on the in room TV, or via a casting solution.

Coming off an incredible IHG show last month, this was something we repeatedly heard from owners: "How do they give their guests the best experience with streaming?" Simply put, streaming is the way the majority of us prefer to consume our TV entertainment today. Whether on Netflix, Prime, Disney+ or any other, in 2023 there were projected to be around 1.8 billion streaming subscriptions globally. Hotel guests are already more than likely enjoying their own streaming content in their hotel rooms. But unless it is easy to share on the big screen on the hotel room TV, they are probably watching on their own mobile device. This is what makes Philips MediaSuite the perfect solution; with Google Cast built-in, guest can now watch their programs right on the in-room TV. In a present that is defined by a need for instant access and a future for streamed services that looks set to continue in growth, enabling easy casting in hotel rooms should not be an add-on or even a consideration for integration. It should be as integral to the television as the television is to our lives. That is why with Philips MediaSuite, Google Cast – and all the instant connectivity that comes with it – is built-in! It's happening. We're now seeing some #hotel groups start to only provide #streaming on the guest TV - that's no live TV channel lineup, whatsoever. Their TV viewing stats are impressive, and satisfaction scores are high. That said, this is the exception to the rule. For the vast majority of the #hospitality market, for now, this is a step too far. Whilst there's no stopping the momentum of truly personalised content for guests on the hotel TV, we still typically see the live TV channel lineup taking an even share of their viewing time in the room. Think news, sports, and popular in-country channels. It'll be very interesting to see how viewing habits in hotel rooms continue to trend over the next decade. And let's not forget the power of movie studios in offering a unique 'cinema' experience as part of the stay. One thing's for sure. Guests love to watch content on the big screen instead of their mobile, and that big digital signage board in the room is an essential communication platform to drive loyalty and ancillary spend. #technology #hotels
