#DidYouSee the important discussion on Animal By-Products last month? EBIC, in partnership with the European Consortium of the Organic-Based Fertilizer Industry (ECOFI), the European Sustainable Phosphorus Platform (ESPP), and Eurofema, co-hosted a #webinar titled “Animal By-Products in the EU Fertilising Products Regulation: Enhancing Circularity, Ensuring Safety, and Supporting Competitiveness.” The webinar offered a platform for EBIC and its industry partners to spotlight the critical regulatory barriers that currently limit the use of ABPs in fertilising products on the EU market. EBIC emphasised the importance of a joint approach between industry and regulators to resolve these policy incoherencies. As part of the broader industry alliance, EBIC joined ECOFI and ESPP in a renewed plea to the European Commission to ensure that competitiveness is not compromised by stringent #regulations that force companies to disclose sensitive commercial information as a condition for market access. Today, EBIC is speaking at our joint #webinar on Animal By-Products (#ABPs). This webinar was organised in collaboration with European Consortium of the Organic-Based Fertilizer Industry (ECOFI), ESPP (Phosphorus Platform), and EUROFEMA. ABPs are a key #regulatory issue for our members. This webinar is part of our work to address the issues presented by ABPs being excluded from the Component Material Category 10 in the EU Fertilising Products Regulation (#FPR) 2019/1009. This regulatory inconsistency is blocking the realisation of a truly circular European economy, and this webinar will offer the opportunity to discuss what animal by-products are currently allowed under national regulations but not yet authorised for use in CE fertilisers. We hope that by taking part, we can shine a spotlight on this lost opportunity for the circular economy in Europe. EBIC is giving a joint presentation with ECOFI, on hydrolysed proteins. It will be given by Chiara Manoli. The presentation will give an overview of what hydrolysed proteins are and why they are an important material for fertiliser producers and how they can help farmers. EBIC will also use this the opportunity to seek clarity from DG SANTE about what is covered in the Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/1605 and are therefore being assessed for inclusion in the Component Material Category 10 of the Fertilising Product Regulation. There is still a very short window of opportunity to register before the webinar begins at 14:00 CEST, which you can do here: https://lnkd.in/dXmhfrB5

EBIC, in collaboration with the ESPP European Sustainable Phosphorus Platform, the European Consortium of the Organic-Based Fertilizer Industry (ECOFI), and EUROFEMA, are holding a webinar dedicated to addressing key regulatory issues surrounding Animal By-Products (ABPs) in the EU. This online event will be held on September 17th, from 14:00 to 16:00 CEST, and will be open for free to all interested parties. Current European regulations present challenges and ambiguities regarding the legal status and approval processes for many ABPs, some of which remain outside the scope of existing DG SANTE ABP regulations. Additionally, there are ABP materials and processes not covered by the NMI and QLAB studies, necessitating space for discussion. This webinar aims to bridge these gaps and foster an understanding that supports future regulatory inclusion. This webinar also aims to engage an industry-stakeholder process to, together, identify potential ABP materials, select those which offer safety, agronomic value and potential for trade and discuss how to prepare proposal dossiers and information. We will bring you more information when registrations open.

Achieving more with less isn’t just rhetoric. Brazil has exemplified this by producing more #animalprotein with less feed consumption. What was predicted as total livestock feed production in 2023 in Brazil has now been reset to be achieved in 2031. And no one is complaining! A shout out to the professionals and industry for using quality #feedsupplements to improve efficiency, coupled with advances in genetics, which have made this possible.
