We are thrilled to announce the two winners of “The Radicle Natural Plant Protection Challenge Presented by UPL”! SOLASTA Bio, an Ag/Bio-tech company specializing in the next-generation of green insecticides, was selected as the 1st-place winner for developing nature-inspired, selectively targeted and sustainable peptide insect control products. Impetus Ag, an Ag-tech company developing biological insect control solutions with the effectiveness of legacy chemical methods, was selected as the 2nd-place winner for creating novel proteins that bind naturally occurring toxins to targeted pests. In addition to funding, the winners will also get access to advice from both UPL and Radicle senior executives to help accelerate their company's business and technical efforts. 🧬 Biotalys has introduced BioFun-8, a groundbreaking biofungicide program targeting Alternaria, a persistent and damaging fungal disease impacting fruits, vegetables, and specialty crops worldwide. Through its AGROBODY 2.0 technology, Biotalys aims to develop an advanced biocontrol that will help growers reduce crop loss due to Alternaria, which has become increasingly resistant to chemical treatments. As agriculture faces growing pressures from #climatechange, we surely need #innovative solutions like the use of #seaweed as a bio-stimulant in farming. Seaweed offers many benefits such as improving soil structure, water retention, and nutrient availability. However, it is imperative that these innovations are paired with #agroecologicalpractices, which focus on working with natural ecosystems to restore and regenerate soil health over time.
