Why should I attend a Women in Leadership program instead of a broader program? It’s a common question when considering leadership development options and one worth exploring. Here, experienced leadership facilitator and champion of all genders @Tracey Ward shares her take. It will take you less than two minutes to read but may just shift your perspective. Five days off with my kids was everything I needed. Slow mornings without the rush of packing lunches or dashing out the door were pure bliss. We soaked up extra cuddles, shared laughs, and made space for so much fun. Not to mention the much-needed rest as I focus on growing our third little one—halfway there! Balancing motherhood and a career is no small feat. Some mothers work because they’re passionate about their careers, others out of necessity to provide for their families. Some stay home because of rising childcare costs, and others make the intentional choice to focus on raising their children full-time—a demanding and rewarding job in its own right. Every path is valid and comes with its own unique challenges and joys. Having both roles can feel overwhelming at times. How do we navigate these conversations at work? Is it okay to admit that I miss my kids while still loving my job? It takes intentionality. This course feels like a breath of fresh air. My hope is that as more organizations introduce it to their teams, it creates a safe space to have these honest, important conversations and to support women in all their choices.

So many deadly speakers at the First Nations Women in Leadership Summit here in Meanjin. Almost every speaker referenced all the different women who paved the way for them to step into leadership roles - we're in this together. I think my favourite advice from Prof Marcia Langton was simple: "leadership is simply being yourself - making decisions that are good for others - and doing the best that you can." If all leaders followed those simple rules I think we'd see more authenticity, transparency, powerful vulnerability, and true, deep listening.

Do you consider yourself a leader? Professor Laura Sonday’s research shows that women are often less comfortable than men in calling themselves one. This hesitation can lead to organizations missing out on leadership talent. As a result, the leadership pipeline narrows, perpetuating gender imbalances at higher organizational levels. #BusinessResearch #Leadership #WomenInLeadership Learn what organizations can do to bridge this gap from MIT Sloan Management Review: https://lnkd.in/e55FWCPa

Thanks a lot for Dorothea Ringe and Karla Velarde sharing their reflection about the Women's Leadership Excellence program at ESMT Berlin this July. In the program feedback, we asked the participants what their top learnings from the program and what outcome they hope to achieve by applying the learnings, several themes stand out and I would like to share with you (and quoting the original reflections from the participants): 👉 hone in strength/value/purpose-based leadership: "Think about the WHY -the deep Motivation behind leadership." "Owning one's strengths." and here's my favorite reflection "Stay true to myself!!!" (and yes, she used three exclamation marks ❗ ❗ ❗ ) 👉 Importance of network(ing) and visibility: "Block time to systematically network." "Understand operational and strategic network and how to manage them." "Give me a higher chance or create the right environment that will help me go to my next step." 👉 Confidence and presence: "Being more confident and therefore conscious in professional life." "Feeling better with myself and my achievements." "Building a strong reputation in my industry and being perceived beyond my organization as an expert." 👉 continuous development and reflection: "Further development for me as a leader." "Block time for self-reflection." Though 3 days seem short, participants have taken a lot away. As mentioned by one of the participants: "The class model is unusual but surprisingly effective and thought-provoking. It’s amazing what you can learn in three days and the good part is they stick with you." Join us this December 8-10th in ESMT Berlin for the Women's Leadership Excellence program! In today's evolving leadership landscape, women continue to rise by tackling challenges, building confidence, and fostering connections that drive real change. The recent cohort of our executive education program, Women's Leadership Excellence, emphasized how the program helped them grow as leaders by overcoming personal and professional challenges, amplifying their impact, and building networks with like-minded women. Their voices highlight the value of our focus on leadership development, confidence building, and confronting bias head-on. 🙏 A heartfelt thank you to Dorothea Ringe and Karla Velarde for sharing their feedback. 👉 Discover how the WLE program can help you achieve your leadership potential. "I've done every leadership course offered to me before. I always felt like I had to take what I learned and spend time on my own to figure out how to apply it without being called aggressive or bossy (or worse). This was different." ~Ambition Theory Leadership Accelerator Participant The longer you wait to acknowledge that traditional leadership training doesn't work the same for women as it does for men, the longer you'll wait to see more women in leadership at your company. Ambition Theory's Leadership Accelerator is different. Many women get promoted before the course is even finished. Ready to fill your leadership pipeline with qualified women? One key takeaway that truly resonated with me for today's session is the idea that "The role of a leader is to make other people powerful." It is a powerful reminder reaffirming that leadership is, at its core, an act of service. It's not about authority or titles, but about empowering others to reach their full potential and succeed together. What a way to start my 2024 Leadership Program for Women Supervisors and Regulators from the Indo-Pacific region journey. Looking forward to tomorrow's session! #WomenInLeadership #LeadershipMatters #Empowerment #LeadershipThroughService
