Happy Monday! Week 3 of my half marathon and Norwegian Foot March training starts today. Starting a training plan is always the hardest for me. As I pointed out on my Strava log, my physical fitnesss is there, but my brain fitness is so weak. This is where I’m tested. It’s so easy to quit, say you’ll do it later, and say you’ll just double up another day to make up for it. So, it’s official I’m aching. My body doesn’t feel like it belongs to me. Getting in and out of the car is a challenge! And, it’s all thanks to Turf Games – the team fitness challenge similar to Hyrox. Imagine a HIIT class on steroids! Our team of 5 were total beginners to the world of fitness comps and with a combined age of 250 – we could have easily been the Mums of all the other participants. But we did it! We competed in all 4 stations. We weren’t last – in fact, we finished 124 out of 139, so room for improvement. So, why such an achievement? When I was 22, I had a car accident. The doctors wanted to amputate my leg. They told me I’d never walk again. They told me I’d need a hip replacement in my 30s. They were ready to hand me my blue disability badge! But, none of those things happened! Instead, I ran the marathon in 2010 and this weekend I competed in a national fitness competition! So, my message to you is this: · Don’t let other people’s opinions of you dictate your life. · Don’t just accept the status quo. · Don’t be cowed and don’t give up! Let me leave you with this quote by Henry Ford: “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right” Your future and your choices are up to you – what can you achieve?
