Humanitarian operations in Gaza face severe access restrictions and, combined with the ongoing insecurity, has resulted in very restricted operational environment for humanitarian actors. Humanitarian actors are present in Gaza because of the unwavering commitment of colleagues on the ground risking their own lives.These bi-weekly snapshots are a testament to the situation on the ground. The undersigned NGOs continue to call for an immediate and lasting ceasefire to provide humanitarian assistance and protect and save lives in Gaza. They also call on all States to immediately halt the transfer of weapons, parts, and ammunition to Israel and Palestinian armed groups for risks that they are used to commit or facilitate serious violations of international humanitarian or human rights law. It is time for those in power to end impunity and act for humanity.

1.7 million people have been forced into a corner in Rafah. And despite promises of safety, the bombs have continued dropping. After almost eight months of violent conflict, people are wounded, hungry and have no place to go. There is no safe place left in Gaza. This must end now. We call for the next UK government to urgently: 🔴 call for an immediate ceasefire 🔴 increase the daily flow of humanitarian aid coming to Gaza – including water, fuel, food and medicine – to restart vital infrastructure such as hospitals and water and sanitation services 🔴 prioritise the protection of all civilians from military action, including the release of hostages 🔴 ensure International Humanitarian Law is upheld 🔴 increase humanitarian funding to urgently meet people’s basic needs 🔴 prevent the use of violence against civilians by Israeli settlers in Area C of the West Bank and end restrictions on the movement of Palestinian communities in the West Bank. The humanitarian situation in #Gaza continues to worsen. Since the bombing of displaced persons in #Rafah on 26 May, there have been ongoing strikes across the Gaza Strip, resulting in civilian casualties, displacement and the destruction of vital civilian infrastructure. Since October 7, at least 36,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip and another 83,000 Palestinians reportedly injured, according to ➡️ https://lnkd.in/e5mahnqX On 6 June, an #airstrike hit a UN-run school in Gaza and killed 37 people, including 14 children, with others injured. When #explosiveweapons are used in populated areas, they destroy vital infrastructure that civilians depend on. The effects of these explosive weapons are often indiscriminate, with a staggering pattern of harm resulting in death and injuries of civilians. In a recent statement, Volker Türk stated “the killing, destruction and widespread human rights violations are unacceptable, and must cease immediately”. INEW calls on all parties to conflict to stop the use of #EWIPA due to the high risk of harm to civilians. #StopBombingCivilians

There are few crimes a government can commit as unconscionable as denying humanitarian aid to those in distress. The countries who continue to support Israel in its blatant war crimes; primarily the US which, alone at the UN, used its veto to block the demand for a ceasefire in Gaza; but also countries like Germany and UK who maintain their complicity with Israel’s actions. https://lnkd.in/dUK2wCSe

𝑼𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑪𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝑹𝒂𝒇𝒂𝒉 (#Gaza) 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: The lives of 2.3 million inhabitants of the Gaza Strip are under severe threat. They face the dangers of death, injury, and the collapse of essential infrastructure due to ongoing conflict situations. 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸𝘀: • Potential Military Actions: The possible incursion into Rafah could exacerbate an already disastrous humanitarian situation 🚩🚩🚩 • Humanitarian Challenges: Hospitals are under-supplied and overwhelmed, with severe restrictions on access to vital services. Even accessing aid has become perilous 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆: • The Rafah military incursion is not inevitable • The Protection Cluster for the Occupied Palestinian Territory and the Global Protection Cluster emphasize that the protection of civilians, including children, must remain the highest priority • We advocate for an immediate and permanent ceasefire as the only viable solution to prevent further suffering and casualties among Gaza's civilians. 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: • According to international humanitarian law and directives from the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the government of Israel must implement strategies that minimize civilian harm, including to children. • We urge an immediate halt to attacks on Rafah and other areas where civilians are most vulnerable 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: • We demand a significant increase in humanitarian access to Gaza, especially through land crossings, to ensure aid can reach those in desperate need throughout the Strip. #ChildProtection For further details, please read our full statement here: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eZvFhB6Z

🔴 Humanitarian Situation Update – OCHA Occupied Palestinian Territory The situation in the West Bank continues to deteriorate, with growing humanitarian concerns following the escalation of Israeli military operations. 📅 Key Highlights (27 August - 2 September): The past week saw the deadliest escalation in the West Bank since November 2023, with 30 Palestinians killed, including seven children, and four Israeli forces killed by Palestinians in Hebron and Jenin. Airstrikes have become more frequent, with 10 Palestinians killed in recent strikes, contributing to a sharp rise in fatalities in 2024. Movement restrictions in Hebron (H2) since October 2023 have severely impacted access to essential services, with reports of detentions and allegations of harassment at checkpoints. 🔺 Latest Developments (Post 2 September): On 3 September, Israeli forces killed a 16-year-old girl in Jenin and two Palestinians in Tulkarm following armed clashes. 🚨 UN Response: On 31 August, the UN Human Rights Office condemned the excessive use of force during Israeli military operations in Jenin and other parts of the West Bank, calling for an immediate halt to the attacks on Jenin refugee camp. In 2024, we mark 15 years of conflict in NE Nigeria. Despite security and protection challenges, humanitarians continue to deliver aid. Tragically, some colleagues have lost their lives while delivering the humanitarian assistance. Israel could actually "easily" follow the gist of the UNSC and the ICJ decisions by creating a humanitarian solution which nevertheless includes achieving its military goal of fully dismantling Hamas! If Israel opens its borders and create Blue Helmets/UN peace force controlled, UNHCR managed, refugee facilities in Israel, it could dismantle all military infrastructure in Gaza without causing any further civilian collateral damage. At the same time would the (disarmed) Gazans have a stable very safe zone to go to with a high likelihood to be able to return home if Gaza becomes inhabitable again (currently it is no longer). #oPt - Over 65,000 people in the North of Gaza are still trapped with no access to health care, medicines, clean water, food, and nutrition services. The entire population is at risk of dying. Since 6 October 2024, Israeli Forces have issued unclear and fear-inducing mass displacement orders targeting the remaining Palestinians in the North of Gaza, displacing over 100,000 people. Action Against Hunger staff witness near daily atrocities in the North. Thousands of people are trapped amid constant bombardment, those trying to flee are often stopped or shot at, and first aid responders, including critical health and humanitarian workers, are also affected by evacuation orders and forced to change locations. Our staff continue to carry out their jobs under airstrikes and in the face of dwindling supplies. Civilians must, at all times, be protected and ensure their basic needs are met.
