Pikes Peak Library District supports families with young children throughout El Paso County. Families can get to know other families at our children's areas, build their motor skills and technology skills, and pick out fun books. Our weekly and annual children's programs like Paws to Read and our Summer Adventure reading program also support literacy and learning. Donations are an essential part in Library funding that help us serve our whole community. Make a difference in your community with a donation to the PPLD Foundation at ppld.org/foundation/donate #PublicLibrary #ElPasoCounty #LibraryFunding #Donate

"The decision to exclude a child from school is a life-changing one" In this powerful film, Jack, one of our educational advocates at CEN, shares his experience of supporting families during some of the toughest moments of their lives. Jack has seen first hand the challenges families face when trying to challenge a school exclusion. Only 5% of exclusions are ever contested, and even fewer are successfully overturned. For many, the process feels impossible without the right support. At CEN, we provide vital advice, guidance and advocacy for families whose children are at risk of exclusion. Our work changes lives, but we're facing a real funding crisis. Without urgent support, we may not be able to continue helping the families who need us most. Please watch the film, visit our Crowdfunder page, and consider donating. If you can't donate, sharing the post or spreading the word on social media can make a huge difference. Together, we can stand by families and give every child the chance to thrive. https://lnkd.in/eNHWHRmV

I experienced the best fundraiser ever a few months ago. It was a win-win-win (..win..win..win) situation. My church was fundraising for a summer camp to send high-schoolers to. The high schoolers put on a "Parent's Night Out." One Saturday night they let parents drop off their kids for 3 hours. The high schoolers watched all the kids and had fun together. This was free, and they also accepted donations. It was awesome, on so many levels. So many wins Win 1- The Donor: They gave me something SO valuable, time with my spouse, rather than just asking me for money. I GLADLY donated. Win 2- The Recipient: The high schoolers gave of their own time and effort. They participated and contributed, and this creates ownership. Win 3- The Values: This is 100% aligned with the values the church is trying to foster. Intergenerational relationships. Generosity. Community. Trust. Attention to time building strong marriages. If we can creatively build this sort of infinite win situation into our non profits and businesses, we'll have done well.
