How we disrupted the multi-billion dollar orthotics industry. Wiivv was an innovative startup with a unique story. The founder was an avid sports fan. However, he could no longer play his favorite sports due to an untimely injury. His doctor recommended orthotics. But no matter what off-the-shelf product he tried, it did not give him the same level of performance. Thus, an idea was born. A big idea to make orthotics that fit just right for everyone. We collaborated with them to make this happen with AI, computer vision, and 3D printing. Starting Out: 👉 We assembled a team of experienced AI engineers. 👉 Partnered with AWS to set up infrastructure in the cloud. 👉 We used AI, computer vision, and 3D printing to make this dream real. 👉 We filed for 3 patents along the process. How We Did It: 👉 We made an easy app so people could measure their feet at home. 👉 We trained proprietary AI and computer vision algorithms with hundreds of thousands of images of human feet. 👉 Our smart tech components worked in synch to make the perfect orthotic (within 2mm of accuracy). Big Changes: 👉 We made it easy and cheap to get these custom orthotic devices. 👉 Anyone could order them from the comfort of their own home. Success: 👉 More than 100,000 people bought Wiivv’s orthotics and benefitted from them. 👉 Wiivv's technology attracted Bayer, a multi-billion dollar German conglomerate. 👉 They white-labeled the technology and sold it under their brand, Dr. Scholls Wiivv shows us that with smart ideas, execution, persistence, and the right technology, you can do big things.
