In this article that discusses the proposed requirement for solar panel installation on public buildings in NYC by the end of 2025, there is a "counterpoint" provided by Ameresco's Peter Christakis. His suggestion is that making this move, while "commendable," is not the holistic solution needed.   While I can't argue with the idea of taking a holistic approach to all energy efficiency program activities, I do become concerned with an ongoing debate that results in us, effectively, standing still.   If I can save 30% of my energy over each of the next two years vs. debating the condition of things to begin saving 50% in two years, I'll take the 30% now along with the learnings and refinement of ideas that come with it and improve from there.   While there is good reason to give things adequate time to percolate, we sometimes waste too much time "noodling." Less talk, and more action is what is needed.
