Advantage USA indeed! This win could be a watershed moment for the USA Rugby Women's Eagles. Their come from behind victory against Australia has them on the verge of breaking through to the next level. Should Australia lose to New Zealand next week in the final game of the Pacific Four competition (as is expected), The Eagles will be promoted to WXV1 for the first time and gain automatic qualification to next year's Rugby World Cup. Promotion to the XV1, a three-week annual tournament involving the top six teams in the world, would be huge. To be the best, you need to compete against the best, so gaining match experience at this level is what every team aspires. The Eagles showed in last night's performance that they are ready to take on the world's best teams. A dominant forward pack, variation and continuity in attack, a committed defensive line, and most notably, a group of players that had a shared belief. As captain Katherine (Kate) Zackary said after the game, "To go into halftime down and to come back, even statistically speaking, that doesn't happen often. It comes with a lot of belief, and that's why it means so much. They truly believed in themselves today to get that win." Coach Sione Fukofuka was obviously happy with the team's performance. "It was pleasing to see the team play a fast, physical game with some great decisions tactically. It’s a brand of rugby that we want to be known for as Eagles!"
