Teamwork makes the dream work ! but true team building takes intentional effort, trust, and shared experiences. It’s more than just working together; it’s about understanding, supporting, and growing with one another. Recently, I’ve been reflecting on the power of team building, not just as a fun activity but as a vital tool for improving communication, boosting morale, and fostering a culture of belonging. From casual meetups to structured team-building exercises, every moment spent strengthening relationships adds value to the entire organization. Here are a few ideas to inspire your next team-building experience: 🎉 Quarterly Outings – Breakfast meetups, paint-and-sip sessions, or even a fun day at the beach. 💡 Skill-Sharing Workshops – Let team members teach each other a new skill (like photography, cooking, or creative problem-solving). 🤝 Volunteer Projects – Nothing unites a team like giving back to the community together. 🎭 Game & Icebreaker Sessions – Fun challenges like "Two Truths & a Lie" or "Solve the Puzzle" to improve collaboration. When people feel seen, valued, and connected, they naturally perform better. A strong team builds a stronger organization. Let’s continue to prioritize connection, not just deadlines. I’m curious , what’s the most memorable or impactful team-building activity you’ve experienced? Drop it in the comments! Let’s inspire each other to create more connected teams. 🚀✨ #TeamBuilding #Leadership #WorkCulture #GrowthMindset #BuildingBetterYouths #StJosephPoliceYouthClub #TTPS 😊

What’s the #1 team building strategy I swear by? Quarterly get-togethers. But here's the key: mix it up! Rotate between company-wide, departmental, and smaller team events to inject fresh energy and cultivate diverse moments of connection throughout the organization. One thing I stress doubling down on is team dynamics. After all, your team is your work family, the ones you spend the most time with! Investing in team-centric events creates stronger bonds and fuels collaboration. #teambuilding #companyculture #hrtrends

Great teams aren’t built overnight, but with consistent, positive steps, the possibilities are endless. Welcome to the third post in this week’s series, "Building Team Culture: One Step at a Time". Each day, we’ve been exploring small but impactful actions that teams can take to create a strong foundation for 2025. So far, we’ve looked at creating a #growthmindset and the importance of team intentions. Today, let’s dive into another essential ingredient for a thriving team culture - celebrating small wins. Small wins lead to big results. Let’s start the year with positive momentum. Big goals are exciting, but it’s the small victories along the way that keep a team motivated. Celebrating these moments early in the year isn’t just about boosting morale - it’s about creating a #culture of positivity and momentum that propels the team forward. Here’s why it matters: - Positive momentum builds confidence: Acknowledging progress, no matter how small, reinforces that the team is on the right track. - It shapes team attitude: A habit of celebrating achievements fosters a mindset of optimism, making challenges feel more manageable. - It strengthens team cohesion: Sharing wins reminds everyone that their contributions are valued and keeps the team aligned. Try this simple practice: - At the end of your weekly meetings, dedicate 5 minutes to a “Win Round.” Invite everyone to share one small success from the past week. It could be a creative solution, a kind gesture, or a challenge overcome. Starting the year by focusing on what’s going well creates the energy and confidence to tackle what comes next. 👉 What’s a small win your team has already had this year? #teamculture

There’s magic in year-end team-building activities! As you close one chapter and prepare to open another, take time to show your employees just how integral they are to your organization. Why it matters now: Celebrate Togetherness: Bring everyone together to recognize individual and team contributions. Inspire Fresh Goals: Set the tone for an ambitious, purpose-driven new year by reflecting on your wins. Foster Unity: Ending the year on a high note solidifies connections and sets the foundation for the year ahead. I help organizations plan for the end of year team building

Tried to come up with an elevator pitch and a love note came out instead. It was great to be in person with the Build Up ^ team this week. If we were doing the same thing year after year, having a short repeatable description would be easier. But a commitment to emergent needs, collective interests, and the changing dynamics of technology and conflict keep us dancing. I still think this one fits best: We use new tools for old problems, and old tools for new problems. Art, dialogue, deliberation, mediation, advocacy meet digital conflict drivers and an online conflict economy. AI, open source solutions, deliberative tech, and social media meet political peace processes, social exclusion, and the needs of social movements. Peacebuilding is still peacebuilding; it just looks different today. We’re also one of many pushing and reshaping this field! As a reminder, the Build Peace conference is in the Philippines this year, and conference proposals are due at the end of this month > howtobuildpeace.org. Come meet my favorite people! You will love it k bye.
This last week was Build Up's annual team retreat and what Julie Hawke wrote on this sticky as her elevator pitch makes me happy. A team that is a work-home. It gave me a chance to reflect yet again that how we work matters, and that being a collective makes us better peacebuilders. And if you're curious, this is how we are a collective: https://lnkd.in/e4gSVUQk

Team-building exercises are destroying your company culture. We've all been there. Awkward trust falls, forced "fun" activities, and cringe-worthy icebreakers. But here's the kicker: These traditional team-building exercises might be doing more harm than good. Here's why they're failing: 1) They feel artificial 2) They're one-size-fits-all approach 3) Short-term focused 4) Disconnect from actual work So, what actually works? Here are strategies that truly build strong teams: ✅ Business Simulations — Engage in realistic scenarios that mirror work challenges ✅ Collaborative projects — Work on real tasks together to create natural bonds ✅ Skill-sharing sessions — Encourage team members to teach each other ✅ Volunteer activities — Unite around a shared cause ✅ Regular, informal check-ins — Build relationships through consistent interaction ✅ Create shared goals — Align the team around common objectives Real team building happens in day-to-day interactions, not one-off events. I've seen this work wonders. What's your most memorable (good or bad) team-building experience? Share below! ⬇️

I often think what are the best ways to keep your team motivated. ✔️ Active Listening: Listen to your team members' concerns, ideas, and feedback. ✔️ Personal Check-ins: Regularly check in with each team member individually to discuss not only work-related issues but also their personal well-being. ✔️ Supportive Environment: Create an environment where team members feel safe to express their thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment or retribution. ✔️ Inclusive Decision-Making: Involve your team in decision-making processes to make them feel valued and part of the larger picture. ✔️ Empathetic Leadership: Lead by example by demonstrating empathy in your actions and decisions. While organizing team outings, providing good performance ratings, and offering trainings are important, embedding empathy into daily interactions can create a more motivated, loyal, and cohesive team. Being a friend to your team highlights a fundamental truth about human relationships in the workplace: people are more motivated and engaged when they feel genuinely cared for and understood.
