I want to share the Modern Slavery PEC blog they created when working together with the Lived Experience Advisory Panel, yes to this to a trauma-informed approach, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for panel members. Incorporating the voices of those with lived experience in all vulnerable areas, is essential for creating meaningful change. Their insights ensure that policies and initiatives are grounded in reality and compassion. Let's continue to support and advocate for the inclusion of lived experiences in all areas of research and policymaking. Their perspectives are not just valuable—they are essential.

“The single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story.” ~Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie “When we reject the single story, when we realize that there is never a single story about a place [or a person], we regain a kind of paradise.” ~Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Challenge: as educators, we should approach conversations about districts, schools, administrators, staff, families, and students this way. A single story is not untrue but it is also not a complete story. What else is there for us to learn, to gain, to understand? Imagine the impact of building truth based on multiple stories, perspectives, and experiences. Imagine how we might change our work or impact by building a holistic story through multiple perspectives about a district, school, administrator, staff, family, or student. Imagine the teachers lounge becomes the place to challenge single stories to build the capacity and success of all. Imagine when we hear one story, we ask for more stories to build a true story. Imagine.

The team at Coschool has implemented a participatory character development program in Bogotá, Colombia, inspired by the evidence-based PRIMED model for character education, developed by Dr. Marvin W. Berkowitz. By actively involving the entire school community—parents, teachers, students, and even support staff such as janitors—they have demonstrated how the PRIMED model promotes a shared commitment to character as a collective responsibility. This approach fosters a cohesive, value-driven school environment, reinforcing the power of collaboration in shaping ethical and resilient communities.
