Redefining tech education: How SheFi builds inclusive digital communities 🌟 SheFi creates safe learning spaces where women and non-binary individuals begin their blockchain journey together. Through structured education, cultural acculturation, and gamified experiences with digital collectibles, they make complex technology approachable and engaging for everyone. Their recent Summit in Bangkok showcased this perfectly, connecting over 500 participants with leading innovators through interactive digital experiences. Each partner created unique engagement opportunities for attendees, offering exclusive digital souvenirs to collect (yes! Using #POAPs): For example, #Linea (by Consensys) sparked creativity through contests, Stellar Development Foundation enabled charitable giving through simple apps, and Nillion provided safe spaces for learning through anonymous Q&A. This dynamic mix of education and community engagement shows how #SheFi is making tech knowledge accessible and exciting for everyone. Shoutout to the #SheFi family: Maggie Love, Ela Passarelli, Stefanie (Stef) Luthin, Alyssa Mae Tumlos, Juanna Z., Bettina Boon Falleur, Susie Batt and the rest of Harpie and World of Women teams who continue building this amazing community. And of course, to the amazing team in POAP - The Proof of Attendance Protocol: Isabel Gonzalez, Matthew L Cardno, Franco Balzani, , Sam Coffey and Santiago Echeverria. We look forward to their continued success!

Day 6! I don't even have the right words to use to express my excitement. It was a banger! Not only did Linda Obi delve into the benefits of Blockchain socially, she also spoke on the importance of women in Blockchain. As women, there's a different perspective we bring to every problem. This necessitates the need to have women involved in not just Blockchain, but every other emerging technology. Linda Obi gave examples of women doing amazing jobs in the field of Blockchain, some of which are: -Elizabeth Rosellio, who is the founder of Bitpesa(now AZA Finance), which enables cross border data transactions across Africa -Joyce Hall, co-founder of BanQu, which provides a digital and economic identity to refugees and marginalized populations, there by increasing inclusivity and participation in the economy -Neha Narula, who is currently leading Bitland, which uses Blockchain to register land titles in Ghana and other African countries. We all know the issues with land ownership in this country, so imagine if such technology were implemented in Nigeria👀what a difference it would make. She spoke widely on the benefits of Blockchain in: -The health sector for example, where it can be used to bridge the gap between doctors and patients. It's saddening to see long queues of people in hospitals daily just because there are not enough medical personnel to attend to them. Personally, this is one innovation I am excited to witness in Nigeria. It would be of immense help to us who don't have family doctors. The health care system is in such a bad state as it is -Governance and transparency especially during election periods -Education -Financial inclusion for people who don't have access to traditional banking systems (that is, the unbanked) etc. The benefits Blockchain brings are actually never ending and the career opportunities for women in law are also wide. Some of them are: -Legal framework development -Compliance and governance -Smart contracts -Dispute resolution -Advocacy and education It was more than an internship session, as Linda Obi spoke about women sharpening their skills and venturing into different areas of technology. It was more of a women empowerment talk really. Linda Obi showed her expertise and passion for the female community and it was so inspiring to see. I am thankful to Mrs Deborah Enyone Oni, Miss Grace and Miss Deborah Enyiayekhan for this amazing power packed program.

Had an enlightening weekend discussing key strategies to enhance the adoption of digital assets among youth without a steady income. Some highlights from our discussion included: - Education and Awareness: Providing accessible educational resources on digital assets and blockchain technology to empower youth with low-risk investment and savings strategies. - Low-Cost Entry Points: Introducing affordable options like micro-investing platforms and gamified ways to acquire cryptos through airdrops and social media engagements. - Financial Inclusion Programs: Partnering with organizations to offer programs promoting financial inclusion through grants, scholarships, or community projects involving digital assets. - Leveraging Social Impact: Aligning the adoption of digital assets with causes that resonate with youth, like environmental or social impact projects to incentivize adoption. - Security and Accessibility: Simplifying platforms to ensure safety and accessibility for youth with limited technical expertise or access to high-end devices. - Collaboration with Financial Tech: Partnering with fintech platforms to offer hybrid products involving digital assets, promoting savings, or earning models tailored to youth financial behaviors. These strategies can make digital assets more approachable and relevant for youth without steady income, particularly in Nairobi and other major cities where resources are readily available.

As a funder it's easy to get positive feedback from charities when you are giving them money. In my years as a fundraiser, I'm ashamed to admit how many times I've given false praise to funders for fear of losing their support. Times are too tight to be difficult - it is perhaps why Crappy Funding Practices continues amuse and horrify me in equal measure. When we set out to build the GSR Foundation, we knew what we wanted to achieve, but were less clear about how we got there. To get us off the blocks, we gave a relatively high volume of unrestricted grants to a wide range of causes - resulting in the macro and micro data we needed to craft an effective long-term programme. Most charities spend unrestricted money on overheads like salaries, yet ask any fundraiser - these costs are always the hardest to raise. Restricted programme funds, on the other hand, remain comparatively easier to raise. This has never made sense to me - if the funder knows how to do the work better than the charity delivering it, why don't they do it themselves? So as we now look to evolve a selection of our single-year grants into significant multi-year partnerships - it makes me so happy to get genuine feedback from excellent partners like unconnected.org. Simply put, it is our view that by underwriting the core costs around a promising (or proven) product or programme - we'll be effective in helping our partners serve more people. Thank you Mea Thompson, Andrew Atkinson and team for partnering with us - very excited to see what we achieve together.
We are excited to announce that the GSR Foundation has further deepened its partnership with unconnected.org committing to support our organization by covering key overhead costs for the next three years. Founded by the cryptocurrency trading firm, GSR in 2022, the GSR Foundation focuses on helping excellent concepts scale up, and serve more people. This support marks a pivotal moment for us, providing important resources to further our mission of connecting underserved communities around the globe. With this backing, we are able to expand our team, dedicate more time, energy, and resources to our life-changing work. The GSR Foundation’s flexible, unrestricted, and long-term support allows us to operate more efficiently and scale our impact, delivering sustainable access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities to those who need it most. This collaboration highlights the GSR Foundation’s visionary approach to philanthropy—emphasizing relational, multi-year partnerships that prioritize the long-term sustainability of its partners. We are deeply grateful for their trust and continued support, which empowers us to reach new milestones and make an even greater difference in the lives of those we serve. Together with the GSR Foundation and GSR we are excited to continue our journey toward a digitally inclusive world. Check out this great interview with Ran W., Partnerships, Business Development and Client Solutions @ Zodia Markets and Event Ambassador for C-Enable's "Women in Crypto for Boards" initiative, where she discusses the importance of crypto education! We really appreciate the shoutout from Ran in this interview, and also for raising these very valid points. The crypto industry could be improved significantly by leveraging community-driven initiatives like ours to promote knowledge-sharing and empower underrepresented groups, particularly women. Enhancing public awareness through approachable and region-specific resources is also critical to reducing the industry's negative reputation and making it more accessible for those without a finance background. We hope to see much more of this kind of approach to our industry as we move forward, and are proud to be associated with people who believe in education and resources for all in this space. https://lnkd.in/eqrED_Vj

Indoors today, I am keeping warm and catching up on work emails and my schedules after spending a week in #Maseru, #Lesotho doing debriefs with my team. I wish to invite Southern African women in business to join our community of #WomeninBlockchainAfrica, Women in Tech, and Women in Web3. A year ago, did I know what Blockchain was? Not really. I thought this is a big online SCAM. Like many, I didn’t realize how much I was already interfacing with blockchain systems and platforms until I joined the mentorship. It was a BIG surprise to me! My curiosity led me to respond to a Saturday Coffee and Donuts launch meeting with Dr Catherine Lephoto, BitMobile Tech, HVAC in March, which sparked a desire to understand blockchain more deeply. Following that meeting, inspired, I signed up for the mentorship offered by @Womeninblockchain to increase my knowledge and understanding of the future of technology, #AI, #digitaltransformation and further engage in meaningful conversations. In the launch meeting, a US company HVAC offered 30 scholarships to South African youth to learn using blockchain technology, which I enthusiastically shared with my network of young professionals. I soon realised the need to dive deeper into blockchain to prepare for future conversations with the applicants who are currently learning on the HVAC BlockChain platform and with Dr Lephoto. In the recent business idea presentations and #graduation, I learned a lot from these Guest Speakers: 1. Maria Eneva-Olms - CEO of Ekolance — Maria focused on “Building on your mentorship experience to drive innovation” 2. Bridget Greenwood - Bridget Talked about “Crafting a distinct professional brand in blockchain” finding your niche and expanding on your knowledge, keep on learning. Under the passionate, disciplined and meticulous guidance of my mentor, I have gained valuable insights into blockchain, Web3, smart contracts, decentralised platforms, digital currencies, and much more. 2 months later - some key takeaways from lessons with my BlockChain Mentor: Lesson 1: Understanding Blockchain and the differences between Web1, Web2, and Web3, as well as the industries using these technologies. Lesson 2: Smart Contracts, Centralised vs. Decentralised platforms, and the distinctions between digital currency and digital money. Lesson 3: Transactional / Gas fees, the value of digital currencies like Bitcoin, and the importance of digital wallets. Lesson 4: Loading...dApp - enables Blockchain voting & governance. I invite #SouthernAfrican women curious about digital transformation to follow Women in Blockchain Africa... In the meantime please read articles by Ms. Simnikiwe Mzekandaba, she is the IT in government editor at ITWeb. She reports on tech initiatives, policies and digital transformation strategies in government, #banking and #education. Let's rise Mzansi! Walala Wasala! #Blockchain #WiBA #WomenInTech #Web3 #CoachLindiweMsiza #WomeninBlockChain #WiBA
