Furthermore, it emphasized that corporal punishment is not a method of discipline but a tool of power and control.

RESPONDING EFFECTIVELY TO FAMILY VIOLENCE With Speaker Dottie Davis This workshop clarified the true nature of domestic violence and offered insights into the relevant laws and individual rights, addressing the numerous misconceptions that exist about this topic. The conversation continued to focus on the Power of Control and how indicators of violence can be anticipated. This includes an evidence-based assessment to evaluate the likelihood that someone involved in domestic violence may ultimately be murdered. This workshop also addresses the various types of battery, and while it references laws and statutes, the presenter conveys information that will benefit service providers, social workers, mental health professionals, and advocates. At some point in your career, you will need to comprehend the legal frameworks and available protections for victims, as well as their options for assistance. I highly encourage everyone who can attend the workshop to take a moment to do so, as the knowledge gained could potentially save a life.
