Offering language training without teaching at least the basic fundamentals of that country's culture is like teaching someone to drive a car with the instructions of a forklift. And the instructions are from 1970. It somehow works but is at best passable.

Adjusting to the level of the learner is a special skill of great communicators and trainers. Not everybody can do it, and that’s okay. I have been on the learner side of many trainings conducted by people who did not master this skill. All of these trainers were very knowledgeable about the subject. They had the highest expert level. That’s why they were recruited as trainers. They gave their all. Told as much about the subject as they could. But the sessions were not very effective. I’m sure you know why. There was a huge gap between the comprehension level of the trainer and the trainees. The trainer spoke from their own level of comprehension. For the trainee the language of the trainer was like a foreign language. This is why it’s so important to have the training delivery handled by professionals who have this special skill: meet the audience where THEY are, and take them by the hand to get where you are. What are your thoughts on this?

My students often ask me, ma’am why is it difficult to speak English fluently and confidently with others in a social setting? My answer to them is that the problem is not in the learners speech, the problem is in us the trainers. We usually teach them the concepts of the language and make them learn the ‘RULES’ of the language by heart. Rather the best technique to learn and language and speak it confidently is not just by learning it but by understanding the usage of grammar and building a stronger foundation by which they will not just get to know the concepts but also start to speak with accurate usage.. So before complaining and yelling a the learners for speaking the wrong English, we trainers must first improve our way of training them and guiding them. Comment if you agree… Jasmeet Kaur.

❓"My topic kan, susah la nk outstanding. Semua orang buat sama jer. Ada idea x?" 💡Over the past 2 weeks, I'm working with a trainer to gamified a program of his and it all started from the question above. 🎯The result: Even the client is surprise that this training could be done in this way. Interested to know the frame work i apply? Nothing fancy. Just 3 thing 1️⃣ if its theory session, turn it into "self learning" 2️⃣ if its practical session, turn it into game. 3️⃣ finally, frame everything in a storyline and incentify them for their effort. ⭐️Response from learner: Everyone trying their best.

Training used to be a specialised skill which needed a lot of knowledge and expertise. Now everyone is a soft skills trainer with most possessing hardly any knowledge, no skill, no work experience, no language proficiency and terrible communication skills. This new mob of trainers is frightening.
