DYNAMIC OPERATING ENVELOPES (DOEs) Do you know what they are and how they work? Europe is relatively new to Dynamic Operating Envelopes (DOEs), but they are a very powerful tool for DSOs which allows them to perform distributed flexibility orchestration in real time. DOEs are a “volume based” control scheme (as opposed to “price based” control schemes). Dynamic Operating Envelopes were developed and popularized in Australia by Luis(Nando) Ochoa . DOEs set the maximum power that a certain distributed energy resource (e.g. an EV, a heat pump, an aircon, a solar plant…) can, at a certain point in time, consume or inject to the grid, given the local grid constraints at that moment. If there are no congestions the devices can run at full power, but when local congestion arise, the DOEs restrict the instant amount of power that the local DERs can consume or inject . For example this EV, in this street, at this point in time, can charge at full power (11kW), but 15 min later it can only charge at 5kW (due to a local congestion). The system savings created through this approach get shared between participants. I.e. all the flex devices participating in these programs get a discount on their grid charges, in exchange for their flexibility. Learn more about our flexible grid orchestration and Dynamic Operating Envelopes (DOEs) by watching the video below of our project with Counties Energy. In this project we use our digital twin and our AI analytics to anticipate bottlenecks and constraints on the grid and to resolve them by generating in real time local dynamic operating envelopes for all flexible resources connected in different envelopes. The devices in the program receive the dynamic operating limits set by the envelopes and stay “within the envelope”. This is a different approach than the local dynamic tariffs approach, like with our project with Geab, a Vattenfall owned DSO we also use the digital twin to anticipate congestions, but then create local price signals to steer away load from the right part of the grid at the right time. (Read more here: https://lnkd.in/drGmkDjd ) What is your opinion about the Dynamic Opersting Envelopes and about Dynamic Grid Tariffs? What are their pros and cons, and which one do you think is better? I have witnessed electrifying discussions on this topic among economists and engineers 🤯.
🎉🚀 We’re thrilled to celebrate Phase 1 of our collaboration with Counties Energy! 🚀 🎉 Their dedication to achieving DSO status and leading the transition with a truly innovative, client-focused approach is inspiring. Making real progress is hard. If it was easy, anyone could do it. I recommend looking at, and speaking to, Energy Web - Jesse Morris and Ewald Hesse are leading the way ... "a global non-profit on a mission to accelerate the energy transition by developing and deploying open-source Web3 technologies" ... Green Proofs a key component of their solutions. Real, verified, known impacts. #impact #blockchain #web3
We're excited to share that Energy Web will be at Enlit Europe, where we’ll be discussing how our innovative solutions, developed alongside industry partners, are helping to transform the energy sector 🌍⚡️ If you're attending, make sure to stop by and say hello! 👋

Yesterday our German team visited the BVES Bundesverband Energiespeicher Systeme e.V. Investor Summit in Berlin. The event discussed the future of Energy Storage Systems, bringing together the leading players in the industry. The Key Takeaways? 💡 The interest and relevance in large-scale battery projects is growing. This was demonstrated in the number of attendees, that was 10 times greater than in 2022! Lawmakers are under great pressure to create regulatory frameworks that allow for large-scale projects to be economically sustainable. BVES is making significant progress in advocating the industry’s needs. We are on the right track with our Battery Storage Pipeline at Copenhagen Energy, as the industry is continuously evolving, and investor interest keeps growing! We are thrilled about these developments and excited for what's ahead! 🎉
