Monopoly GO's Tycoon Racers event is a great example of player choice incentivizing further engagement. At first glance, the setup of Tycoon Racers is very similar to their previous events, where you have to team up with multiple players towards a common goal. The catch? You are now competing against other groups to get the top score! Teams go head to head with 3 races throughout the event, ensuring players are engaged throughout the whole time. Players can often get discouraged and disengage if only one main scenario occurs. This helps to keep the loop fresh and engaging. Not only that, but as you get rewards, players actually have to choose between currency or event points! This introduction of choice hones in on what the player's priorities are and what they want to do to progress in the event. It's not like you can finish the race and be done. The team has to constantly have the top points until the time period is up, which forces players to continue to play and come back. The results? 🦶 Are Heel Hooks In? 🧑🦲 With the legendary John Danaher and his team pioneering advanced entries for heel hooks, this submission technique has become significantly more accessible and effective. 📰 According to a BJJ Heroes article titled "The Importance of Heel Hooks in ADCC: Are Heel Hooks the Key to ADCC Success?", the modern application of Ashi Garami/Outside Ashi Garami accounted for 54% of all submissions in the last two ADCC events (as of 2019). 🏅 As the competitive landscape shifts away from Craig Jones' less favored 50/50 approach, it seems we’ve already entered an era where heel hooks dominate as a go-to submission in high-level grappling competitions.
