Disability pension should be linked to inflammation. Preferably, the government should be pressed more to create accessible infrastructure and work opportunities for disabled persons so that disability pensions do not become a financial necessity. Earning a living always gives dignity and pride. Every disabled person should voice their problems and expectations so that the authorities can be pressured to act. #pmo #cmo #disbilityempowerment #PWDs

Despite Assam’s inclusion of persons with disabilities (PwDs) under the Orunodoi scheme, the financial aid of Rs 1,250 per month is simply not enough. As our Executive Director Arman Ali points out, living with a disability comes with additional expenses that most people don’t have to face. From mobility aids and specialized healthcare to accessibility in transportation and daily living, every aspect of life for a PwD costs more. Without a disability-friendly environment and adequate financial support, persons with disabilities are forced to spend significantly more on basic necessities, money that many simply don't have. The state must act now to increase financial aid, ensure access to healthcare, and build inclusive infrastructure as mandated by the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
