U.S. Cyber Command, in collaboration with the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), is spearheading an initiative to standardize the equipment used by cyber protection teams and the Cyber National Mission Force for defensive operations. Historically, there has been a lack of uniformity in the Deployable Mission Support Systems (DMSS) across different services, leading to inconsistencies and interoperability issues. The new effort aims to merge DMSS with hunt-forward operation kits into a single, standardized Joint Cyber Hunt Kit (JCHK). This mobile kit, designed to be a portable security operations center, will enhance the ability of national cyber protection teams to conduct operations both domestically and internationally, such as the notable deployments in Ukraine prior to the 2022 invasion.
