In the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare, Social Innovation Labs bring together a diverse array of stakeholders to tackle complex problems. However, their success is not standalone. To flourish, these labs need to be part of a wider improvement and innovation ecosystem, strategically influencing change and connecting pockets of innovation. Our recent evidence review, undertaken by the Innovation Unit, underscores five shared features that define these labs and delves into how labs can achieve greater impact. Drawing insights from interviews with leading practitioners, we have identified areas where we can maximise the potential for innovation labs in the future. These findings will provide invaluable support for those commissioning and leading innovation labs and are relevant for anyone interested in how improvement and innovation initiatives can coexist to achieve greater systemic change. 🚀 It's all about innovation! At least it is on October 23, when the doors open for 'Innovationsdagen' at FÆNGSLET in Horsens. This day, employees, clinicians, and leaders from Region Midtjylland - and other innovation enthusiasts from the ecosystem - can indulge in a wide buffet of topics, from idea workshops, language models, transformation, and AI to the power of networking and the importance of trust-based collaboration. 🤝 The last theme, collaboration, will take the stage when HIA partners Allan Juhl, CEO in Emento, Karen Skjerbæk Jørgensen, CCO in Trifork Digital Health, and Thomas Balle Kristensen, CEO at Aarhus Universitetshospital, come together for a dialogue on what happens when hospital logic meets business logic. "True health innovation only happens when we dare to break away from the traditional customer-supplier relationship and instead build mutual trust between healthcare professionals, public, and private stakeholders, where we act as one united team. To achieve that, we need to communicate. So, I look forward to the dialogue at Innovationsdagen – because it's only through this approach that we can reach a shared understanding of what we want to solve and, in turn, make innovation a part of everyday life – so it doesn’t just remain a good idea.", says Karen Skjerbæk Jørgensen. Together with moderator Diana Riknagel, they will share their curiosity and thoughts on how we can only achieve the necessary progress in the transformation of the health sector if we dare to engage in new, trustful collaborations. With a focus on opportunities and the importance of mutual trust, they will also discuss the challenges that can arise in such cross-sectoral partnerships. Although the tickets for Innovationsdagen are sold out, the opportunities to expand your horizons are not! Stay tuned for insights from the debate. The photo is from FÆNGSLET at Innovationsdagen 2022 where the theme was 'system innovation'.

Earlier this week, I had the privilege of attending a fascinating pitch event hosted by The Right Place, Inc. and the Michigan Israel Business Accelerator (MIBA). A delegation of Israeli Health Tech companies showcased their innovative solutions to a group of Western Michigan investors and business leaders. Seven diverse companies, ranging from early-stage startups to more established ventures, presented their cutting-edge technologies. These solutions addressed a variety of healthcare challenges, including: - End of Life Care: Leveraging technology to improve end of life care costs, advanced care planning, and avoidance of excessive healthcare costs. - Supply Chain Optimization: Developing advanced supply chain visibility for operating rooms and other healthcare facilities. - Personalized medicine: Tailoring treatments based on individual patient data, including early warning and detection of life threatening allergic reactions. - Healthcare data analytics and interoperability: Harnessing the power of data to drive better decision-making and building consolidated care information platforms. The event offered a valuable opportunity to connect with Israeli entrepreneurs and explore potential partnerships. It highlighted the strength of the Israeli healthcare innovation ecosystem and the potential for collaboration between Michigan and Israeli companies. Overall, this was a stimulating event that showcased the exciting advancements happening in the field of healthcare technology. I look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of these Israeli companies.

[#innaxe4eu] 🇩🇰 🔎 Zoom on co-creation in Denmark! 🛠️ From a roundtable organized in Copenhagen to individual meetings with Key Opinion Leaders, the Danish Life Science Cluster brought INNAXE’s major topics to the attention of key health and life science stakeholders. A couple of insights from those interviews and cocreation session: 📌Approval for an international cluster2cluster collaboration for joint actions in the 9 major topics like MedTech, digital health, public procurement but also and importantly for equity in health; 📌Cascade funding calls as a tool for investment in the field of public procurement with hospitals pitching their needs to ignite innovation power before the calls; 📌Equity in health: there is a huge geopolitical driver in Europe to lift the quality healthcare in all countries to the same level. Lack of equity can be used as a powerhouse to generate new generation technologies with more adequate pricing models. Inputs from the Danish ecosystem in feeding INNAXE’s topics were invaluable for our joint action plan. 🙏Many thanks to all of our Danish participants and to Danish Life Science Cluster. #innaxe4eu #Denmark #innovation #health #clusters #lifescience Karen Lindegaard
