Last week I took part in the launch workshop for the Zero Carbon Knowledge Hub, at the University of Bradford. There was an interesting mix of local industrial manufacturers, solution providers and researchers. The manufacturing sector contributes massively to overall greenhouse emissions. Without big cuts in industrial energy use we have no chance of meeting Net Zero targets, locally or nationally. It was interesting to hear about some of the challenges faced by manufacturers, and see how the hub can provide a platform to help solve these issues and decarbonise. I'm looking forward to continuing with this group to help deliver reductions in energy and emissions.
On the 12th November we hosted the Bradford Manufacturing Future – Industrial Decarbonisation Workshop Thank you to all Industry, Bradford Council and West Yorkshire Combined Authority participants who joined our Zero Carbon Knowledge Hub Workshop organised for the Bradford Manufacturing Futures (BMF) Local Industrial Decarbonisation Project, funded by Innovate UK! This marked the launch of our Zero Carbon Knowledge Hub, with lively discussions focused on local industry needs for innovation for industrial decarbonisation - and ways in which the Knowledge Hub can act as catalyst for a low carbon Bradford Manufacturing Future. The agenda focused on research, collaboration and skills development. Thanks to Dr Suzanne Smit, Felician Campean, Dr SHALINI NAKKASUNCHI, Dr Cristina Tuinea-Bobe, Iryna Parfenava and Soraya KADRA for their support in organising the event.
