I’m still reflecting on last week. I was privileged to participate in the Rising Together workshop for early career African Researchers in Stellenbosch, as part of the Neotree team. A wealth of knowledge was shared by our wonderful facilitators, the kind that only comes with great experience. If I could sum up my key take aways they would be: •Have a vision: If you don’t know where you are going, then it won’t matter which road you take. •A career in research can often look like a winding road with lots of twists and turns, but flexibility and adaptability are key. •Keep writing by all means necessary! •Learn to say No! A fast no is better than an uneasy yes. •Equitable partnerships are possible. •Self care is not just important, it is essential. I look forward to the next six months of mentorship that will follow. #EarlyCareerResearchers #DecolonizingGlobalHealth

✨ #MeetUsMonday: Meet the GCSC Team! ✨ Get to know the people behind the work happening at our Centre! Every Monday, we introduce you to one of our dedicated team members, sharing their academic and professional journeys that led them to the GCSC. This week, meet Katalin Gebl, Master´s student in German Studies at Justus Liebig University Giessen and one of the student assistants at the GCSC, working with our Publications Coordinator Isabella Kalte. 📖 “Hello, my name is Katalin and I am a Master's student in #GermanStudies with a focus on #GermanLiterature and #linguistics and recently submitted my thesis, in which I dealt with #IdentityPolitics. I was particularly interested in how #culture and #identity are connected - at the same time, I investigated how the different #perspectives influence each other, how they divide society and what consequences these dynamics can have for #TheFuture. 💡 💼 In addition to my studies, I work as a #StudentAssistant at the GCSC. My main focus here is on supporting the #publications of our #OpenAccess journal #OnCulture, which is published twice a year. Here I accompany the publication process, starting with various #EditorialTasks for all contributions to the actual publication of a new issue and its promotion on various platforms. We recently published a new issue: https://lnkd.in/egVSYPTK 📝 🏫 I started working at the GCSC because the work at the Centre fits perfectly with my #AcademicBackground and #ProfessionalInterests. What I really like about my work is that it gives me deep #insights and hands-on #experience with #AcademicPublishing processes. I also appreciate being surrounded by such a supportive and #CreativeTeam that is always raising new questions about culture and how it affects our lives in many different ways." 👥 #MeetUs #MeetTheTeam #TeamGCSC #MasterOfArts #Germanistik #GermanLinguistics #StudyOfCulture #CultrualImpacts #AcademicExcellence #InspiringWork #EditorialTeam #ResearchCommunity #publications #GCSC #JustusLiebigUniversity #JLU

As higher education rankings become increasingly competitive, demonstrating commitment and impact towards sustainability is crucial. Beyond asking about initiatives put in place to promote sustainability, rankings want to see how institutions are measuring the impact of those efforts. QS Quacquarelli Symonds and Times Higher Education recently added questions specifically to this point, joining AASHE #STARS. Read the blog below to discover these methodology changes and how TASK™ can help your institution successfully demonstrate your impact! https://lnkd.in/duXATrXx
