Kim and Tamir Kordov’s journey with MS and their involvement in MS Read-a-Thon is a heartfelt example of how a family can come together for a meaningful cause. Tamir has lived with MS for over 30 years, facing challenges along the way, especially with mobility. As MS Read-a-Thon Ambassadors, Kim and Tamir (along with their two sons) found a way to support the MS community through their love of reading. Kim wrote, The Tale of the Toy Troll, a children’s book about a troll who takes toys away when children don’t clean up. The book’s message took on new meaning in their lives when Tamir connected it to MS. “Tamir realized that parents with MS could benefit from having their kids keep things tidy, especially when they’re feeling fatigued,” Kim explains. This connection led them to MS Read-a-Thon. “It all came together so perfectly,” says Tamir. “Kim wrote this wonderful book that really connected with our lives, our kids, and my situation with MS. It wasn’t planned, but it feels like everything just synced up naturally.” For Kim and Tamir, MS Read-a-Thon is more than a fundraiser—it’s an opportunity for families to connect and for children to learn about the power of giving back. Organ donation stands as the last hope for countless individuals worldwide awaiting life-transforming transplants. While an official global waiting list figure remains vague, estimates suggest that millions of people are in urgent need of organs to survive. Numbers from the United States show that 17 people die each day while awaiting an organ transplant. Even more sobering, every 8 minutes, another person joins the transplant waiting list. These numbers underscore the pressing need for increased awareness and action regarding organ donation. Similar to the tremendous amount of giving that occurs in the last quarter of the calendar year, the first quarter of the new year is an exceptionally active time for donors fulfilling their New Year’s resolutions, including one in particular—revisiting their estate plans. This period of time may have an immense future impact on your health care organization and involves donors and/or their advisors reaching out to request specific information that will bring their planning to fruition.
